I use the VLD .224 dia HPBT's in my sabot 300 win mag loads and it's as you say clean as long as ya shoot over ther river full of ducks or big catfish that'll eat the sabot and fly/swim off with the evidence. A slug with no trace elements these days sends off the piggies on a search for the little red sabots !
Accuracy is about 3 MOA for that setup also. Check out the commercial accelerator loads for the 06 and look at 600-800 meter accuracy. I don't like em. Just good material for a fictional prose IMO.....:o)
