Here we go. Lockyer is a RAT. He's not going to end gay marriages, won't uphold the RULE OF LAW.

This is Al Gore 2000 all over again.

Lockyer should be disbarred for refusing to uphold the law as it exists in the books. PERIOD.

As for the justices who keep enabling these lawbreakers, they too should face the axe and disbarrment.

Arrest Lockyer for obstruction of justice. Maybe his second in command will be more amenable to carrying out the law.

Lockyer called that statement "preposterous" and said it is the kind of "exaggerated, hot rhetoric" that risks stirring people up to commit hate crimes.

Lockyer would not be so lax about this if a mayor were giving out guns, now would he?

Funny, but there is a Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms. There is no Constitutional Right to buggery.

Lockyer is playing politics with our laws. I can only hope the Governor will have the stones to terminate his position.

The fix is in, both at the judicial and AG levels. California is intended to be the trendsetter for gay marriage, as it is the trendsetter for everything else.

You can't impeach the AG. You can recall him, though.

This is beyond vile. Is there any legal remedy available for this malfeasance?

The governor can't terminate the AG or his position. He is an elected official. You cann recall him, though.

I think Lockyer just threw California to Bush in November.

Under another scenario, Grodin said, the issue might jump to the federal level if another state questioned its obligation to recognize same-sex marriages authorized in California or Massachusetts.

"One way or the other, the issue of gay marriage is likely to reach the U.S. Supreme Court," he said.

So much for this being limited to a states' rights issue (not that I believed that).

Ahh, the smell of anarchy wafting off the Pacific.

The California Supreme Court will uphold the law, certainly. Then it will be appealed to the US Supreme Court. We'll see how that one turns out.

Ok research time. Under CA law, can the Gov. do anything to direct the AG? It makes ZERO sense for that to be the case. Prosecutors are part of the executive. The AG should also be part of the executive and answer to the governor.
