Among the interesting things in that article is that he notes that the only actual evidence he can find of people spitting during anti-war demonstrations is of demonstrators being spat on by pro-war counterdemonstrators.

Gee, he should have checked out the antiwar demonstrations from Sept. 2001 to the present. As one of the "pro-war counterdemonstrators", I have:

Been spat at, by a man from the antiwar side (he missed)

Been shouldered off my spot on the curb by one man, while another man took my sign and ripped it in half

Had a bottle thrown at my head, by a man in an antiwar march (he also missed)

These are just the physical assaults. I won't even get into the verbal ones.

I'm very curious as to where the MEN of the radical left get their hostility against WOMEN. Aren't you??

It happened to me. I returned from 18 month tour at USNAVCOMSTA Philippines in Nov 1970. Two hours prior to landing, during the Customs brief, we were advised of protesters tactics (taunting, swearing, spitting etc) and STRONGLY ADVISED NOT TO REACT. Advice included appropriate UCMJ action which might result.

I witnessed no swearing or taunting, but got spit on. The tactic used was while on the moving sidewalk, let go with a gob. The speed of the sidewalk got my spitter out of reach in a hurry. Prior warning, joy at being back in 'the world', and anticipation of connecting flight reduced reflex to chase the bum down and rearrange his teeth.
