"specifically about people of other countries knowing exactly where Texas is...."

You know Texas is a pretty special place when a kid in the back bush of Nigeria draws a crude map of Texas with a stick and asks,

"Where's Dallas?"

I have had this very same experience in numerous countries, except they asked where Houston was and if Texas is really that big!!!

His initials are O.A., but I don't think I've ever heard the names.

I'm told his first name, believe it or not, is Oail. Never heard it before. Don't know what the A stands for.

I'm having a hard time believing that this article came from Bum.

Just seeing his name though brought back some damn good memories. I remember driving around 610 to go to the Astrodome to attend the "Luv ya Blue" Rally when Bum said that "Next year, we will knock the sum-bitch down"(talking abou the Pittsburgh Steelers). What a man. What a legend. Bum and Earl both.

Regardless of whether or not this came from Bum, Ill Amen anything that says that Texas is where it's at. You know that if the world or country doesn't have it's stuff together, you can always come back to Texas.

The reason he asked about Dallas was the TV series, "Dallas", which got to the cities of Nigeria about five years after it quit running in the US.

Can you imagine someone in a foreign country drawing a map of Utah and asking, "Where's Ogden"?

Who is Bob Wheeler? And how do you know, if you don't mind my asking? If you're sure, it's nice to have the truth.

BTW, while looking for Mr. Wheeler, I ran across this page. It has a lot of "Texas" links that look interesting.

Where else can you fly the Alamo flag for 13 days during the anniversary of the siege and have your neighbors know what it means? (Well, except for one silly Yankee who wondered why I was flying a Mexican flag in my front yard)

Well, ya got me there. I'll have to go find an Alamo flag to see what it looks like. :-/

Love your profile!

Way back when we joined the U.S., didn't we reserve the right to secede if we ever wanted to?

I had a Texas birthday last week on 4/21. It was 35 years that I packed everything I owned in a '65 Dodge Dart and drove to Texas. I'm so proud to be here.

Well, I'm Texan through and through, and I'd probably ask you the same question.

Our family was lucky to live in Texas for 4 years....those friendly Texans were the best neighbors we ever had.

During our time there, we went to see the Alamo, Big Bend Ntional Park, the Hill Country, Padre Island; the Big Thicket, Big 'D'....we still have very fond memories of our time as Texans! And we still have Texas in our hearts!

Happy Birthday Texas!

"didn't we reserve the right to secede if we ever wanted to?"

Oh, no! Let's don't get started on that again!
LOL!

No, dear lady, we didn't..... anymore than any other state.
We tried in 1861.
