This is why I think doing it right before - or even during - would be more likely, because the objective is to deprive them of any press coverage as much as possible.I like the idea of during the convention. That will take the wind out of their sails.

lets hope the administration finds a way to get this out to the public.

"...Bush needs to come out and give an address about just what has been discovered. I suspect Bush will be doing this shortly before the Democrat Convention."
I suspect Bush will be doing this in September or October.

Yet we still get the occasional goober on FR bloviating about "no evidence of WMDs." No weapons (missiles excepted) discovered yet, but no evidence? LOL

If this was legit, surely it would have been out by now. My question is this, if this for real, could Bush and Co. be waiting until the "opportune moment" to bring this out? If it isn't for real, then where the h#ll are these stories coming from?

I believe you are correct there. Let the Dems get their convention bounce and then tear 'em apart.

What is telling by the silence is, our congresscritters (except for a chosen few) are no longer talking about "No WMD's found".Now that you mention it, there has been a noticable drop off in "where are the WMD's" comments lately. Very telling indeed.

That's the thing. The Bush Admin is going along with the "we had bad intel about WMD" line. They have shifted to the "democracy and UN legitimacy" rationale. Wouldnt they be out there making this case if they believed it? What gives? From a political stand[point what gives is that the American citizen has already discounted the WMD stockpiles. Most assume, correctly I might add, that Iraq had CB weapons and the fact that they have not been found causes them angst but doesn't affect their view on the necessity to attack Iraq.
The Bush Administration will continue to look for them because they pose an immediate threat to American interests. They see no upside to discussing it on a daily basis but know they must be found to avoid CB attacks on America.
If they are found the democrats and the press are going to take a major hit in the next election, from the executive on down.
I don't care about that as much as I care about finding them and destroying them and those who have them but it would be a nice bonus.

I no longer have the link, and the named "pesticides" found, but a year ago, I had that information. The chemicals named as "pesticides" were/ are comparably fatal on direct exposure - say, within a factor of 2-5 by weight/ volume. They were in proximity to ammo dumps with WMD delivery vehicles.
Sorry: either SH was intending to use these as Chem weapons, or the Iraqis were embarking on a program to distribute pesticides by artillery shell... your choice.
I will not be surprised if I eventually discover that Syria was shipped even more dangerous agents, or if Iraqi manufacturing facilities created pesticides instead of the WMDs Saddumb was intending but he was crossed. It is also possible that there was some deterioration of the chemicals due to lack of refrigeration. Nevertheless, these stockpiles are indeed useable as chem weaponry.

Have you considered that we may not be announcing the finding of WMDs because we haven't found them ALL. At least some are likely to be in the hands of the "Insurgents." Not making the announcement deters the bad guys from using them against us and the Iraqi population in general. If we "find" WMDs, they can use them. Imagine what a few chemical shells into Baghdad or the Green Zone would do. Or maybe a mosque to stir things up.
