Well the elite entertainment establishment once again proves that it hasn't a clue what a real documentary is. I could draft a script blaming Bush for starving people on the streets of the U.S. and get out my video camera and go to work. I'd be a shoe-in for next year's awards at Cannes. Would I have to include any actual documents or physical exhibits to prove his guilt? Not really, but then it worked for Moore.

It's hard to take Cannes serious. It's like a running joke that the particpants are incapable of grasping. As they laugh, others are shaking their heads and wondering what the average IQ of the Cannes participant is. Wondering might be a bit of a stretch. It's quite clear what that average is not.

While we wait to hear the good news of Iraq, the Cannes decision process is reported moment by moment. I've been breathless with anticipation. NOT.

More laments the poor children that have suffered at the decions process of the U.S. I guess the half of the population of Iraq (namely girls) that can now go to school are surely suffering for it. I guess the children of Iraq are really suffering with clean drinking water. I guess the ability to turn on the lights now is really taking it's toll. I'm sure the fact that they can now get three squares a day is a blight to them.

Moore, Cannes, in your case dilusion is a sad thing to watch. It's borders on criminal negligence.

I don't get it. Was this the "Cannes Film Festival" or the "Cannes Pie Eating Contest". I get them confused, and with Michael Moore winning it I'm really not sure...

"Alor! Eets Michael Moore! We must surrender, mes amis!"

Moore is rewarded for his anti-Americanism...Note the singers performing, Judd, Crow, and Morisette are all Bush-haters.

like the other fat man we all know and hate, this new fat man shows us how low an American can go if he has no problem lying and being a tool of the liberal democrat enemies of the country.

I was in the bookstore yesterday, picking up Dick Morris's new book, and this lady made a bee-line for Michel Moore's 'Dude where's my country'. I nearly bit through my tongue keeping my mouth shut.

Some critics speculated that if "Fahrenheit 9/11" won the top prize, it would be more for the film's politics than its cinematic value.

Well, duh - now *there's* a revelation!

The only surprising thing is how many leftist Euro-weenies are so incapable of honesty that they could pretend otherwise. It's not like they're fooling anyone. Well... maybe themselves. But that's not much of a challenge.

I take lots of FR flak at times for being the movie addict that I am...

BUT

Michael Moore is where I draw the line. after his infamous slur of vomit w/words at the awards in 2003, I will NEVER give his work another nickle...yet alone 8.00+/ for a ticket.

I see most movies multiple times at theater & then by many, many DVD's.

This man is evil.

Thanks for post, disgusting as the info is!!!!

IMHO, the French have joined the Academy in meaninglessness. None of their awards henceforth will be as impressive as a trophy from the Third Street Tiddlywinks Club, as far as I am concerned.

"Fahrenheit 9/11" was the first documentary to win Cannes' prestigious Palme d'Or since Jacques Cousteau's and Louis Malle (news)'s "The Silent World" in 1956.

I'm sure he'll cherish it as much as his Palme d'Hair.

Well I just learned something the hard way. Moore is god and to diss him in front of liberals is the unpardonable sin. I had my 3+ year old user name on Airliners.net banned for quoting Moore's statement about the Iraqi "minutemen". I was told that it violated the rules against "flame bait", "factually wrong posts", "harsh language", and "copyright violations".
(Of course Airliners.net only enforces these rules on those the moderates don't like, i.e. Americans and Conservatives.)

I am sure there were lots of films that would have made Moore's film look like a fly on a pig's snout. When "Fahrenheit 9/11" wins something like this, for raw politics, what effect does it have on the other film producers? I am sure, behind the scenes, there are lots of people who are saying that the Cannes Film Festival was ruined by politics gone amuck.

The truth, if one could get the truth in these "Alice Through the Looking Glass" times, would reveal that many would see Michael Moore as more of a barbarian than a film artist. Many should have deep anger at the fact that all of their artistic efforts were overlooked for someone unworthy of the top award.

This award and the entire festival was used as an instrument to insure this propaganda hit film gets distributed to the American market before the elections. All the efforts by all those film artists whose hopes for recognition by the Cannes board were totally ignored for a agenda that has no place in the festival. Whoever orchestrated this effort should be exposed and their future position on the board terminated. As Donald would say, "YOU'RE FIRED!"
