Well, I dunno, Sinks. I started a thread out of frustration, saw it pulled, and now it's a ZOT. Pushing 400 posts now. Sheer heck of it, and now it's gone off somewhere I don't understand.

How else could he get his elongated face on TV this week?

His spinmeisters are all high-fiven each other for their brilliance at getting "their guy" into the story.

I think your entitled to feel the way you do.

I just don't have that much respect for a man with no core values. I think you give him too much credit.IMHO

Post #5 - Well said. Kerry was there just to get his Botox-smeared face on the boob tube. The man is a complete joke and stands for everything Reagan was against.

I think on an earlier thread I pretty much agreed with the premise that Kerry should pay his respects.

BUT, since he is going to the state funeral on Friday in DC, I have to wonder the purpose of the Simi Valley visit.

His camera says it all.

Respect isn't something that you dole out in an hour on some afternoon in between campaign stops.

Kerry would show up for a hanging if it got him on TV. He is too pathetic to be president of anything.

If Kerry wasn't running for president, he, as a memeber of the senate, would never have attended. This was pure political motives.

Thanks for the post. Your sentiments make perfect sense. It's not an issue of being damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Holding to his humanist mindset is condemnation enough.

If he hadn't paid his respects, the same people would be throwing a fit.

How many times do you think he should pay his respects?

He is invited for Wednesday night at the Capitol and again on Friday for the funeral.

This was a photo op, period. No amount of dressing it up will change it.

Kerry should have made his big to do when the Senators get to pay their respects. That would have been proper and decent. His biggest problem is looking like an elitist and bumping people who were waiting in line for 10 hours. I don't even know if he showed up today. I just hope he did.

"he would not need a photographer to memorialize the event"

I keep seeing this. Where did you see that he brought a photographer?

I think it's wonderful Kerry went to Simi Valley today to "pay his respects" to President Reagan. Voters of all political persuasions will recognize Kerry's gesture for what it was. It will please none of them, offend all of them.

Why should anyone waste time asking Kerry questions? His past shows that he is incapable of honest answers. He is so far out in LEFT FIELD that he is on the edge of soon leaving the ballpark! The man is an elected official who is currently not serving his constiuency, but then again, what do you expect from a representative from Massachusetts, a state who now has a new claim to fame, The Big Dig, or is it the Great Rip Off!

The variablle part of this equation is that Reagan was truly a man of substance and character.

For the rest of them it's just a show. Kerry is nothing more or less than any one of our current congressional mass of celebrity politicians and wannabe aristocrat lords.

(D) or (R), it matters not. He deserves no more fault or praise than McCain or Kennedy, Pelosi or Specter. They are all part of the same team. They rule us, they own us and we haven't the nerve to dump them.

Now, Abbeville Conservative and sinkspur. Don't you think you're being close-minded, VRWC, conservative Republicans. How dare you. Stop picking on a rhino. I resent that. He or she is trying their best to defend John Kerry's hypocricy.

And I have thought about it. Isn't it quaint that Kerry has picked the one moment when someone can't call him on the carpet to display loyalty and affection? Then resuming attack mode at the end of the week. It's awfully convenient.

Just a thought, but you two meanies need to stop. This is just so devisive. I hope both of you can see that over your narrow minded vision. :)

It was fine for him to pay his respects. But someone will need to explain why he brought a camera crew to take pictures of him paying his respects? Very strange to use an event like this as a photo op, don't you think? That is what I have a problem with.

I contrast this with our current President, who has visited my compatriots in arms at Walter Reed military hospital often, but refuses to let the cameras take pictures of him doing so--even though he is widely popular their with the troops in rehabilitation; or who has met with many families of the victims of 9/11, but refuses to make them into publicity shows, etc. President Bush, like all politicians, does take the opportunity to get great campaign images, no doubt. But he refuses to do so (and is hard on this issue with his handlers if they try) at events that involve someone grieving over their misfortune or loss.

Seems a pretty significant difference in the old charactor issue to me.
