You don't suppose the rift has been growing for quite some time (yes, there is a difference between right thinking and wrong-headisness), and the Internet has simply brought it to light?

Polls indicate American voters are at their most divided in a decade, with a partisan split on national security at its highest level since the late 1980s. IOW, the right isn't laying down for the left's s**t anymore.
A Pew Research Center poll conducted earlier this year also found the number of people who get presidential campaign news from the Internet grew from 9 percent in 2000 to 13 percent this year. The number of people getting campaign news from traditional sources such as television networks and newspapers has declined as much as 10 percent.
Here we get to the crux of the article: internet and cable news (right-wing strongholds)--bad; newspaper and broadcast news (left-wind strongholds)--good.
-------------------------
The left's in a panic. They're losing their grip and lashing out as their world collapses around them. Expect it to get worse as it progresses (this campaign season is just a taste of things to come).

Please ignore post # 43.
It was meant for Summer on another thread.
I replied from the "my comments" section.

"That man had no right to have these feelings if he was in the military," Doug said
================================
Either R.G. missed that or I mispoke. I think he missed it, and here is the rest of that discussion. He may have any feelings he wants. But he can't act on them when other lives depend on him. There is no way I would want someone next to my son-in-law on a ship who believes our troops are evil imperialist aggressors. Who could trust someone like that to cover your back. Remember the grenade thrown into the tent?

Clarification -- actually, I still retain a few of my real estate clients. Most of my time is devoted to protecting glass in buildings around the world from terrorist bomb blasts. No, I guess I must further clarify that. Most of my time is on FreeRepublic. :)

Here's a tip, dear. Get rid of the hyphenated name crap.

"I don't know why they want to accuse us of treason. It's not fair. We haven't done anything. We've just said something that somebody doesn't like," said Anthony-Benavides, a native of Corpus Christi.

Typical of the left. In the original post, I did not accuse her of treason. I called the signers the enemy. I now, however, accuse her of stupidity. I can just see a tear in her eye and a pouty look as she whines about the mean FReepers and says that life isn't fair. Grow up, leftist fool.

We're all in lockstep, don't ya know. I'm one of those invisible moderates. In fact, you'd have to say the majority of us "Bush-Bots" are. The extremists at FR do not support president Bush. (Go Pat Go, Harry Browne supporters, and various other "true conservatives"). I'll bet the writer of this article had no idea.

Archy was evidently suspended and took it as a sign to depart forever, a loss for FR, IMHO. Big loss, indeed. Damn.

I know him so well, he lets me call him "Mr. Upland, esquire."
AAAAAAGGH! Please, please, for the love of God, STOP with the esquire crap!
I don't care WHAT a lawyer tells me. If you do not own land in rural Britain, you are not allowed to use the title.
And if you're a woman, signing yourself Esquire just makes you look pompous, pretentious, and Kerrylike.

Grass-roots political Internet sites have been springing up since the 2001 terrorist attacks. Those on the right vilify anyone who does not support President Bush and the Iraq war as communists and un-American, while those on the left use common curses to describe people on the right as fascists
I think it's called freedom of speech.

That's because the left can't lie anymore and get away with it.
===================================
Bingo. They do not hold all the power anymore, our message is begin embraced, and they don't like it. Bipartisan means doing it their way.
