Isn't it a prerequisite for the Democratic Presidential ticket that at least one of the candidates have a drunk brother? Think Billy Carter, Roger Clinton, I think even Johnson had a drunk brother, Sam Houston Johnson.
Totalling meaningless unless the relative is being named as a Cabinet member. How about the family pets - have they ever destroyed furniture?
Edwards isn't responsible for his brother's bad behavior. We can't choose our relatives.
If he helps his brother out of these scrapes with the law, then he is an enabler, and is hurting his brother in the long run. It's very hard to let a sibling bottom out - but oftentimes, that is the only path to sobriety and and a productive life.
I'm surprised he hasn't filed a suit against the liquor companies.

I don't see using the brothers troubles as a viable strategy, on any level. And I can't really blame Edwards for not jumping on his kid brother with both feet, choosing instead to cite a vague knowledge of his legal troubles.
