blacks were shut out at the ballot in the South prior to the 60s.

Not true. Blacks North and South voted in mass for FDR long before the Civil Rights Voting Act and in that time the south, in general, was democrat while the North was republican. Look it up. All the CRVA did was eliminate the poll tax and literacy test. As I said, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

MoveOn Whips Up Anti-Bush Sentiment

Gee they're outspending the Swift Vets 20:1, but no one but political junkies knows who they are.

Goes into the themes they're using for their latest commericals. Curious as to how Maggie Cho blathering about gay marriage, cutting to same-sex couples spooning is going to play in a state like Iowa.

Their ads won't appeal to swing voters, that's for sure. And they can't even sell out a 3,000 seat music hall for their true believers.

Do they really think swing voters will fall for this:

One of the biggest audience responses of the evening went to "Richard," an ad directed by Richard Linklater. "I've always thought of myself as a pretty conservative West Texan. But there ain't no way I'm voting for George Bush this November," says a man presumably named Richard and sporting a ten-gallon hat. "These guys are taking care of their own, and they're so arrogant about it. ... They want to rule, which means if we question any of their policies they call us unpatriotic. You know, where I come from, that ain't right."

What nonsense. You wanna talk arrogance? How about Dems who smear war veterans who dare not to think John Kerry was the bravest soldier ever?

MoveOn.org...what can you say about an organization whose very name is a lie?

The event, sponsored by MoveOn.org, also unveiled a new TV ad campaign featuring such Hollywood stars as Scarlett Johannson, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and Matt Damon. Several of the stars appearing in the ads were on hand as were other celebrity speakers, including actress Edie Falco, comedian Al Franken and actor and musician Kevin Baco

If this is MoveOn.org's idea of "celebrities", then it's very clear they're dorks.

Apparently you don't have to be a dork to be a Democrat, but these days it helps.

Regards, Ivan

I asked this question on another thread, but never got a response.
Is MOVEON.ORG really effective?
I know they are constantly getting their name promoted by the MSM and they get tons of money.
However, have they made a difference in any election, local or national??

I can only suggest that like the old saying, they're "a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing."

I seem to recall during Impeachment that they were of lesser importance than the media slime machine.

No, they're not. I can't think of a single race where they have made a difference. For example, in 2002, they targeted all sorts of Congressional races to "make a difference," and they failed miserably.
