that is a great line. And that's why I love Republicans. ;)

Note: what they didnt do was waste their money on the tourist junk being sold on the streets. Look inside their stock portfolios or their real estate holdings and you know why you want Republicans running the economy and country conservatively. Or would we prefer the drunken sailors of the Clinton administration for example.

Caveat: The Republicans in Congress not in the Bush cabinet better get their fiscal house together. They are starting to look like Democrats.

That is a fairly old phrase. When the Southern Baptists came to Atlanta decades ago the joke (was even in the op ed of the AJC) was that they came into town with a clean shirt and a 20 dollar bill and didn't change either.

Such jokes only apply to conservatives, doncha know.

Isn't there a place called Bellevue for people who talk like that?

Bloomy is certifiable, for sure.

With few exceptions - Elaine's, '21,' Four Seasons - the restaurants were empty, the theaters on life support, the night clubs running on customers who didn't leave town.

They were on life support because any time a well-dressed individual was standing in line outside them, a scruffy, aromatic Democrat protestor came up and screamed at, spit upon, or punched them.

Other than one good term from Koch and the two from Rudy.......can you think of another Mayor who did the city proud?

Liberals live their elitist life and make sure the riff raff get dregs, and stay in their place.

Born in Newark, I can tell you I don't have any memory at all of an effective Mayor.

Sounds like Bloomy has the same disease as Kerry - user created reality.

It's 'Big Rich' syndrome. Ross Perot was even worse. When you have that much money, you don't have to have anyone around you but sycophants who agree with everything you say. "That's right Mike, You got it Mike, You're a genius Mike, Perfect answer Mike" and after a few years of hearing that, you begin to believe it yourself.

I left NYC in 1982 when I was 22 and have rarely looked back. I remember Koch, but Rudy was after my time.

Rudy cleaned up the city, brought it back from anarchy, refused to meet with the race hustlers, and didn't give a damn what the media had to say about ANYTHING.

At first no one believed the city was governable after Dinkins, but Rudy did it all and more.

He earned the enmity of all those that lives he improved.

When he came into office the murder rate in the city was over two thousand, mostly minorities. When he left it was about six hundred, yet the majority of the black population hated him with their every breath.
