"Again, I implore the public to have patience. If the democratic candidate for president cannot figure out the gun laws, how on earth could mere gun owners be expected to do the same. Kerry deserves the same leniency we would all expect to receive. This is America, where we're all treated equally under the long arms of the law."

I suspect that an ordinary citizen would get the full "donut ninja execution at 3 a.m." treatment in the same situation.

Okay. Leniency? Guns? We'd be in jail. Do your job!

I thought UMWA would be pro-gun, even if they are a union.

It's not really Kerry's gun. Kerry doesn't own a gun. It belongs to his famiily.

Hanoi John accepted the gift before not accepting the gift.
I just had to say it.

Thanks for staying on top of this story. Being from WV, I've been wondering about his accepting this semiautomatic gift ever since the rally. He accepted it before he returned it! LOL

What a crazy maze of laws have been set up, when even a presidential candidate who is a lawyer cannot keep up with all of them...

Ironically, Senator Kerry could well have voted for the very law (or is it laws?) that he has allegedly contravened since he has an "F" rating from the NRA.

They were vague on the legal issues.

Is it illegal to give or accept a gun as a gift?

Is it illegal to transport a gun across state lines?

Is it illegal because of soem FEC thing?

I find it disturbing if it one of the first 2.

There's one other 'little' problem if Kerry accepted the shotgun - he violated the Senate Ethics Rule on gifts. Rule 35.1 limits the value of a single gift to a 'sitting' Senator at $49.99, the Remington has a MSRP of $827.

And being the stickler to details that I am, last week I lodged a formal complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee :-)

It won't do any good, but it was fun!

I would love it if JF'nK shows up at some campaign stop and the FBI is there to arrest him for his federal felony!!!

Now that would make my year!!!!!

I would love to see that undergrown "numb nutz" cry a river of tears brought on by his arrogant air!

And a" hearty har har" was enjoyed by all!
