"-In a statement published in Gun Week, Remington CEO Tommy Millner denied any involvement with the gift, saying, "Rest assured, we were neither aware of this presentation in advance nor in any way supportive of its intent to support Senator Kerry. In fact, the Company remains amused by ongoing photos of Senator Kerry shooting without either ear or eye protection while discharging a firearm.-"

Proof positive he is a fake and a phony!

United Mine Workers at the Remington plant? I found that interesting.

IIRC Remington is owned by Dupont and Dupont does mine ores and minerals.

SURE :-)

Senate Select Committee on Ethics
NOTE: The Ethics Manual is in Adobe and I had a couple problems opening it - system locked. I finally had to save it to my pc then open it with Adobe Reader.

Also note, that the RAT member from Hawaii doesn't have an email link. With all other you click their name and go to their homepage, then send your comments. I used 'Government Affairs' as the topic.

IIRC, the video of the event has Kerry accepting the shotgun. I think I recall that he thanked them for it, and accepted it.

If this is illeagle then he belongs in jail! Place him in cuffs and book him. That would be a great picture to caption here.

well that sure sounds like felony #1. but even if he gave it back, that would be felony #2. If he kept it, he would have to either make arrangements to permanently store it where it is (or was), or transport it to Mass. That would be felony #3...

ATF! Where are U ATF!!!

There's one other 'little' problem.

If Kerry accepted the shotgun - he violated the Senate Ethics Rule on gifts. Rule 35.1 limits the value of a single gift to a 'sitting' Senator at $49.99, the Remington has a MSRP of $827. Last week (Condor 51) lodged a formal complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee (link below).

NOTE: The Ethics Manual is in Adobe, may be problems opening it - system locked. Save to pc then open it with Adobe Reader. NB: RAT member from Hawaii doesn't have an email link. With rest, click their name and go to their homepage, then send your comments.

Actually in this case, he rejected the gun before he accepted it.

Kerry deserves the same leniency we would all expect to receive. This is America, where we're all treated equally under the long arms of the law."

If equality truly exists then Senator Kerry should expect his front door being breeched as an ATF midnight raid takes place to search for other illegal weapons.

But in this case he declined the gun before he accepted it.

Glad the Remington CEO hammered him about shooting w/o appropriate shooting glasses and no appropriate protection for his ears.

Good post.

THe article also points out that the gift was a SHOTGUN not a rifle, as the AP reported.

DuPont and Remington parted ways several years ago. Remington is now privately owned (IIRC).

The shotgun, identified in published reports as a semiautomatic Browning, was actually a semiautomatic Remington model 11-87. News reports suggesting it was a gift from Remington would be an illegal donation from a corporation to a candidate, and the value of the shotgun would exceed campaign donation limits as well.

Another FR first - When Drudge just posted the pics of Kerry and his shot gun and before there was a story, yours truly wrote:

Sorry to gloat, I just love it when the MSM is wrong and FRpers are right.

Your statement is so true. I have ear and eye protection for shooting in my truck's glove box all the time. I also make a point of having some high-brass laying on the passenger seat just scare libs looking in my truck.
