"Based on what we now know, CBS News cannot prove that the documents are authentic, which is the only acceptable journalistic standard to justify using them in the report. We should not have used them. That was a mistake, which we deeply regret."

But, Dan Rather said the content was accurate. He said Bush must answer the charges and failure to comment was an admission of guilt (if I recall correctly).

CBS is still lying, obfuscating and being disingenious.

if I knew then what I know now - I would not have gone ahead with the story as it was aired, and I certainly would not have used the documents in question.

In other words: If I knew we were going to get caught, I would not have gone ahead with the story.

Notice its the peoples' trust he craves, not in actually being fair and truthful.

This is unbelievable. Neither statement even admits what the rest of us know. The documents are fakes.

CBS admits that it can't prove they're authentic, but that's it.

If CBS wants to be forgiven, they need to come much cleaner than this.

Sorry Dan and Cee Bull Sh*t.....I didn't trust ya'll before the report and your lying partisan biased actions just confirm you to be 12 steps below the national inquirer on the validity scale for nooooze.

Doom on CBS and their butt boy blather whos lip lock on the ass of all things socialist is all too well known. And know this from this day forth I won't watch (didn't anyway) or buy products advertised on CBS or their local affiliates till Rather is put out to pasture, fired, retired or quits. Anyway you wish to lie about it ....he's gotta go !

Based on what we now know, CBS News cannot prove that the documents are authentic, which is the only acceptable journalistic standard to justify using them in the report. We should not have used them. That was a mistake, which we deeply regret. Nothing is more important to us than our credibility and keeping faith with the millions of people who count on us for fair, accurate, reliable, and independent reporting. We will continue to work tirelessly to be worthy of that trust."

Who wrote this for them?

BJ Clinton???

These are unacceptable statements. People should be fired and a sincere, public apology needs to be given to each of the people who were slandered by CBS' heavy-handed approach to this fake story.

Anything less is totally unacceptable.

"Obviously, 60 MINUTES WEDNESDAY had full confidence in the original report or it would not have aired."
The guy who fed them the report was as unbiased as Dan.

"if I knew then what I know now - I would not have gone ahead with the story as it was aired, and I certainly would not have used the documents in question" REALLY MEANS if I knew then that we were gonna get caught.... geeze, I had no idea the American people, the little people out there, had sense enough to know the difference in real and forgeries..... then I never would have used them.

CBS News and CBS management are commissioning an independent review of the process by which the report was prepared and broadcast to help determine what actions need to be taken.

Much like the Albany bishop who commissioned to conduct an investigation into allegations made against him, of sex abuse. Surprise! The report found him to be innocent.

To: RedDaring; All

Here is my response to CBS, which I sent thru their website:

Dear CBS,

I find you apology and admission of fault in the Dan Rather "Memogate" scandal disingenuous and halfhearted.

The fact you are admitting that you were misled is perfectly acceptable, but in the this case I believe like many many others, that CBS and Dan Rather wanted to be misled. Your network wanted this story to be true in the worst way, because it could hurt President Bush, plain and simple.

Your apology should have been more along the lines of "the CBS News team attempted to mislead its viewers and the American people, in an attempt to harm and impugn the military of George W. Bush. The management of CBS deeply regrets this matter and we pledge to get to the truth in this matter. All CBS employees that were involved with the sourcing of this story have been suspended until we have properly identified the culpability of all parties involved"

CBS, you failed your viewers and your fellow TV journalist once again. I am sure your viewers will give you what you deserve.

Regards,

For a complete list of the major reports on SeeBS Click Here. Copy the text and news reports into an email and send it to everyone you know. I agree that SeeBS is a bunch of lying, Clintonite bastards who attempted to steal the election for Kerry. But they are not done yet. They will again try to steal the election for Kerry by reporting that Bush is behind in the East before the polls close on election day.
