Shouldn't he be teaching this over there anyway? If he really is trying to do what he says, why is he talking to Americans about this?

I am so angry over the fact that Notre Dame wanted to hire this guy that I can't even watch the Notre Dame football team.

Don't you wonder what Jesus has to say about that?

We should only let the Islamo-fascists teach in our schools when they let Christians and Jews teach in their Madrassas.

Is anyone aware of high-quality blogs or other sources of news about this -- outside of the MSM?

I suppose the guy's own writings are available in the library. I haven't looked, myself; I'm busy reading Ben Stein right now.

But on the other hand, I don't want to be harsh toward a Muslim who wants his religion to evolve into something modern and peaceful.

Good. There are far too many posts here of the "Kill them all, God will know His own" ilk.

I'm sure you're right, though I have no intention of taking the time to read any of his work. Life is way too short to read vague, Clintonesque nonsense from some darling of the left. I've done that too much in my past.

He said he shares some Muslims' criticisms of Western governments, including "the deleterious worldwide effects of unregulated American consumerism" and finds U.S. policies in the Middle East "misguided and counterproductive."

In the above sentence, this professor cannot be distinguished from John Paul II.

And lecturing at Notre Dame is going to further that how? Shouldn't he be talking to the extremists throughout Islam?

I'm willing (and happy) to be wrong about that.

Before you slip into complacency, I strongly urge you to read this.

"it will also deny the American people and institutions a much-needed opportunity to engage the Muslim world in a real and serious dialogue"

This is the only "dialogue" possible with the Muslim world:

Notre Dame - educate yourselves.

There are a number of articles that detail Tariq's troubling connections and statements. Thank goodness his visa was revoked.

Read them all.

Follow the money. I suspect the university wants the cash that is being offered to fund the chair--

Amen to that. The money has already been followed...all the way to Riyadh. This is a Wahabbi invasion, pure and simple.

Another academic dumbass, who would exploit our freedoms for his islamic ends, another stealth "al arian". Criticizing a guest country defies common sense. What are the chances of being allowed into a muslim country to promote "Christian" sensitivity and understanding?
Aside from all that, what kind of fool would attempt to interfere in the internal and external political affairs of another country and expect no resistance?

I too, would like to join the objectors to allowing this clown into my country for any purpose whatsoever. I simply do not like his 'tude. My country, my final word.

Thanks -- that's a good start.

I read Ramadan's comments about whether it's okay to kill Jewish children. For you and me (and for any person with minimal morality and sanity) this question wouldn't be a stumper. But for Ramada, it deserves a long-winded answer where it takes all possible sides of the issue at once.

Perhaps now the problems being caused around the world by Muslim extremists will begin to get the attention of moderate Muslims. Cat Stevens is a high profile man. He is kicked off a flight, but is that a fair trade for a couple of American contractors?
