Don't jump to conclusions.
And thank you.
quidam
maybe like mike with fox news?
If the freedom fighters have guns and ammo, anything is possible.
i remember the revolt against the Shah and it began like this. constant irratible problems, troops deployed and then it all appeared to happen really quick when it gained momentum. No doubt , people in Iran are upset but to quote Mr Rumsfeld...we need to reach the tipping point...i personally dont think we have reached that yet..but we are certainly on the right track...
on a seperate note...a bombing of the nuclear site might be badly timed now as it would give the regeime something to rally around..
Lord, God, if at all fittting according to your priorities, PLEASE FAN THE FLAMES OF THIS REVOLUTION INTO A RAGING SUCCESS, in Jesus' Name.
I appreciate your comments, and the willingness to learn is the most basic thing lacking in most people. We just need to dispel misconceptions whether from lack of precise knowledge (true of all of us) or from fraud (from network news etc)
I agree with both of your points. Covert aid (sterile weapons of Iranian govt type etc) to the resistance would be best, but the PC-CIA has self-castrated and is having its own intifadah against Bush right now.
I just got a long fax, in Farsi, from friends following the events in Iran. The bottom line is that, once again, the extreme instability of the country has been demonstrated. It seems that more than two thousand people have been arrested. Several members of the Revolutionary Guard have been killed. [....] It is clear that opponents of the regime are increasingly armed, there are gunfights in the streets of several cities, and the clashes are going on all over the country. It is not just Tehran, or Tehran and Isfahan.
Now, there are a few possibilities.
1. Someone is feeding disinfo to Ledeen, knowing he will spread it. For some reason.
2. Ledeen's translation of his fax is wrong.
3. Ledeen is like totally lying about what's on the fax.
But if 4. what Ledeen says here is true, then there are 2000+ rebels in jail in Iran right now.
And MikeinIraq, from all appearances, had blithely said that what they were doing was "not happening", refusing upon request to clarify or back that up. Tell that to the people in jail Mike (or for that matter the dead Revolutionary Guards).
That's an insult - to the rebels. I could not let that stand, nor should I have. And the idea that Mike clarifying with some common-sense explanation like "okay, obviously *some* violence is happening but not to the level of revolution" would have or could have Compromised Secret Information is strange fantasy.
That's all I'm saying.
