Rove predicted, to a narrow Bush victory over Sen. John Kerry, with a margin of about 3 percent in the popular vote.

It looks to be about 5%. And Rove is no genius. Bush won despite Rove and others. They not only insisted that he SLAM the Swifties, in deference to that loser, McCain, but that he begin talking about 'gay partnerships' just days before 'gay marriage' was defeated on eleven ballots around the country, which some think help explain part of why Bush got so many votes from those who showed up to vote on such propositions.

Rove wanted to steer clear of Kerry's Viet Nam record

That horrible miscalculation - ALONE - could have cost the GOP the election.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. Whatever.

I swear, the über-Right can't be satisfied with a win no matter what.

If you win the Superbowl 33-32, you still get the ring.

Bush was not there with these vets on those boats..That is why he did not run with it..and you can second guess it all you want but that group could not become a part of the campaign as it would have given them LESS credibility..

There were people in the swift boat group who were dems, like John O'Neill.

These men were dismissed, called liars by some in the press and who came out winning?..They did..Kerry lost which was a partial victory..They will continue to work on this campaign for truth...They did not do it for Bush..They did it for TRUTH!

Read Horowitz. The candidate should remain above the fray, and let his allies butcher his opponents. The attack on Kerry by the SBVs was perfectly orchestrated (remember, Rove and Horowitz are good friends).

Moreover, the SBVs are the worst sort of enemies that Kerry could have made - and the ones he most thoroughly deserves. I'm going to enjoy watching them pursue him - because they will, and with any luck the #$%^&! will wish he'd stayed in his Commie schumerhole of Massatwobits and never run for President.

From what I've heard, it was Karl Rove that chose GWB.

Thank you, as you have just made my point. Rove had nothing to do with the Swift Boat Vets as we all know.

If you remember, Bush and Rove were continually producing his National Guard papers. The Bush campaign was going nowhere until the Swift Boat Vets came to the rescue.

We won, shut-up and relish the fact. Why all the negativity about Rove and GWB's re-election? Jeez, sounds like a bunch of B-team whinner & back seat drivers.
Rove did a good job, he had a good candidate and a huge opposition.
Some credit to the Swifties, enemy of my enemy, will get JfK yet and he will regret ever running for President!
There is a lot to be thankful about the results of this "most important election".

I agree that Karl Rove was not the sum total of this campaign, but if you don't have someone at the top who knows what they are doing and has a feel for the potential voters then all is lost(as in Democrats). I wish the people of Shelby County, Tn. had a Karl Rove.

There you go!

Shelby CO, TN? My sister used to live in Memphis when she was married. Lamar & Winchester, I believe. Near Germantown.

As we often said at work, "The Bush team is playing chess while the Kerry team was playing checkers." It was great to see the libs crumble at the reality of Kerry losing. After all his initials were JFK. That alone to them was a sure thing.

It looks to be about 5%.

I'm not sure where this Old Wives Tale got started but the popular vote margin is 3% not 5% - about a 3.5 million margin and 116 million votes currently. It is hard for me to believe that the absentee count will increase this by another 2 million.
