I would have to agree with the comments about Mark's brilliance... remember, folks, just because you don't get along with someone because of their personality doesn't make them a bad person. Mark is on of the few true conservative voices that we have in Milwaukee and the liberal left has been out to get him for some time. Many find his style to be brash at times, but if you can learn to deal with that aspect of his personality, you can learn a great deal from his show... personally, replacing Belling with a Syndicated show would be a grave mistake by clear channel, and knowing how things float at the station being a long time listener of several of the local shows on it, I believe that most of the decisions right now are out of Jerry's (station manager) control...

ohhh, kryptonite... you used an "offensive" word and should be thrown off your computer! ;) (j/k)

Belling has no one to blame but himself....it seems to me a temporary suspension is about right!!!! Why? What did he do wrong?

Hannity is boring and dumb as a box of rocks

Not to mention self-obsessed and a prettyboy.

Takes him about 3/10ths of a second to mention himself six times in a conversation with, say, Dick Cheney or Bob Bork.

Never occurs to PrettyBoy that WE want to hear CHENEY.

Aaaaaaargggghhhh

Ummmmmhhhh....

I keep thinking that it was McGee who called for "necklacing" white folks in Milwaukee a number of years ago--either just before or just after he lost his aldermanic post.

Belling's "temp suspension" is fair--he will lose a part of his paycheck.

Let's cut to the chase: the term 'wetback,' while NOT considered a major slander by most Hispanics, is not a term that should be used by a professional broadcaster over the airwaves.

MAYBE in a private conversation, but if you are Belling, there's no such thing as a 'private' conversation, and it's a risk, to say the least.

But as one of his sworn enemies in the MSM has pointed out, more than a temporary suspension will amount to a serious attack on the 1st Amendment.

WISN's losing share as long as they keep Belling off the air. They know it, we know it, and ClearChannel knows it. This has got to be KILLING Bott, who has to pay for his new Mercedes and would like to keep his job.

His style is quite brash but I believe that actually draws more of an audience. His show is rather addicting in fact. A person never knows what sort of acid remark will drip from his mouth. I like Hannity but it is nothing compared to Belling. This is WISN's and Clear Channel's loss, not Belling's.

Liberal media/airwave hosts say worse stuff than what Belling said all the time.

Stooping to liberal levels will do us as much good as the last election did them. The idea is that we are better than that.

It is equally wrong to excuse our bad behavior by pointing out the bad or worse behavior of others. Again it brings us down to the level of liberals to do so.

Belling behaved unprofessionally on the air and then issued a sarcastic apology he joked about for days on the air before issuing a sincere apology. All of this could easily have been avoided if he'd behaved responsibily fromt he start. He did not.

Mark deserved the disciplinary action he's receiving and standing up for him with crazy conspiracy theories only asssures this happening again somewhere down the line.

Belling is rude and obnoxious to his loyal listeners on a daily basis and probably should have been disciplined before now for that behavior. I listen to his show because it's the only conservative show in the afternoon drive time slot and because it follows Rush's show. Without those 2 huge benefits, Belling probably would be struggling more for ratings than is the case. I hope WTMJ considers giving him some real local competition.

Lastly, I will be very pissed if Belling and his devotees succeed in getting "diversity lessons and programming" on the air. I sure as hell don't listen to conservative radio progams so that I can have more PC nonsense shoved down my throat. I wish his fans would cool it and allow the disciplinary time to play out. They've already been guaranteed Belling will not be fired and will return to his time slot. That should be more than enough all things considered.

To some extent that is true. But pointing out that liberals are given a pass by the media when they utter slurs does remind people of the double standard facing conservatives.

Belling behaved unprofessionally on the air and then issued a sarcastic apology he joked about for days on the air before issuing a sincere apology. All of this could easily have been avoided if he'd behaved responsibily fromt he start. He did not.

Agreed.

Yes, he is rude at times. Especially when he berates callers for not speaking to his point. But I don't think this warrants discipline. This guy is a special talent in terms of his ability to articulate an argument. Also, he singlehandedly has exposed a great deal of corruption in Milwaukee.

I wish his fans would cool it and allow the disciplinary time to play out. They've already been guaranteed Belling will not be fired and will return to his time slot. That should be more than enough all things considered.

I think fans would calm down if WISN would just announce something concrete. They have gone incommunicato. And there is no guarantee Belling won't be fired. They have said he will be back, but if the hatemongers on the left continue to scream, who knows what will happen?

All things considered, however, your post makes a good deal of sense.

Not the point.
The point was the selective censure they do.

I will admit that Mark does berate his callers a little too much, and he really does not allow anybody to wander even remotley off the topic, this bugs me some time...

but when the guy is talking of Wisconsin/Milwaukee/Local politics, he is the best there is...even better than Rush. It's always a pleausre hearing him go after somebody, case in point the voter fraud. If it wasn't for him (And Sykes) we would never have known about it.

If I remember correctly, he apologized. Another person used a epitaph (retard) regarding the matter and he apologized. The second apology was accepted.

You are correct. The Belling apology, however, was arguably sarcastic. The apology by Mr. Huyke, who uttered the "retard" slur, was immediate and sounded sincere to me.

This is another case of the original offense being magnified by its aftermath. I believe Mark himself once said that had Clinton owned up to his misconduct initially, the impeachment would have been avoided.

I agree it took awhile before Mark B finally sounded contrite ie; on-air versus Journal Sentinal apology. However I wonder if the editor on the Charlie Sykes show would have apologized for his "retarded" comment if Charlie Sykes would not have pointed it out?

That was WHILE he was aldercriter. I wonder who will step in with Jones' blood money to keep the racist McGee on the air. I'll take the Potawatomis (who pulled their ads from WISN).

I wonder what you'll be saying when (not "should") the oh-so-tolerant Left targets the other 4 local conservative shows for destruction.
