I'm not a nuclear expert, so my "analysis" is nothing more than speculation, but here are a couple of points worth remembering: First, Iran is actually pursuing two potential tracks toward a nuclear bomb, working on uranium enrichment and plutonium production at the same time. From what I gather, it looks like uranium enrichment is receiving most of the effort/attention, but either track could result in Tehran's ultimate goal--a working nuclear device. Additionally, the dual-track approach makes it that much more difficult to interrupt Iran's bomb-making efforts.

Another thing... why does a country with the world's fourth largest proven oil reserves need nuclear energy? Their economy is entirely oil based with an agricultural sector thrown in (pistachios, dates...)
