Baby Jesus was stolen from the Nativity in Chicago, by some punk who was caught a block away.

He was high on pot and admitted he did it because he was bored and high and the cops let him go the same night.

Amazing

Considering the million plus nativity scenes on display, the rate of vandalism is remarkably low.

What makes you so positive there aren't a lot more that never got reported?

This is a lot like child abductions or shark attacks. If the media gives it more attention people think its happening at an increasingly alarming rate.

Sevry: Sante Michael Archangele, defende nos in proelio; . . . one of the prayers said after every Mass - every real Mass.

Salvation: Said after Novus Ordo Masses too. And that is a real Mass too.

What a powerful prayer! The only NO mass where I have heard it prayed, is the one telecast daily on EWTN.

In the Maronite Divine Liturgy, immediately following the Our Father, the celebrant prays:

Forsake us not, O Lord, Lover of all,
lest trials overwhelm us,
but deliver us from the evil one
and his misleading ways,
for the kingdom belongs to you,
to your only Son,
and to your living and Holy Spirit,
now and forever.

Similar in form to the prayer in the NO liturgy - "Deliver us Lord from every evil and grant us peace in your day ..." - but more specific, for all 'evil' comes from the 'evil one'.

Well, I don't get EWTN. But in person, host of parishes, many years of watching these increasingly Prot 'new orders' - I've never seen it. And if you were to suggest it, the prayers after Mass that are said every Sunday, and every morning at Latin Masses around the world, the eyes of the proud EM's would glaze over. What's a St. Michael? Will he help with the sacred offertory procession, or the gathering of the EM's for host-division, etc? And so on.

Turning the other cheek means tolerating personal insult.

One should not tolerate hateful, dangerous, violent offenses against religion in general, or other people. "Turn the other cheek" is one of the most misunderstood and misrepresented statements Jesus ever made, along with "he who is without sin can cast the first stone".

Anyone who "turns the other cheek" while thugs destroy images of Jesus is an idiot and a fool.

"Nothing new here. Happens every year. Kids will be kids. One guy (don't have a link) even returned the baby Jesus he took from one Nativity scene. This has been happening every year and is indicative of nothing more than the prevalance of teenage immaturity."

Finally a sane comment in this thread. Teenagers vandalizing nativities suddenly becomes a sinister national plot with romaing bands of Christian haters? Damaged or stolen nativities will lead to church burning and eventually the closure of all Christian churches?

Get a grip folks.

"...and three of the inflatable snowmen were slashed."

Now this is truly Hugh and Series.

What does the 'other side stand for'?

Nothing.

Abraham Baldwin, a signer of the Constitution – “A free government … can only be happy when the public principle and opinions are properly directed – by religion and education.”

The left's anger at losing the election seems to be directed more at Christians since polls showed moral issues brought out the large religious right in larger numbers.

Misplaced anger. They really should be embarrassed for adopting and endorsing the immoral craziness they attach themselves to.

You mean like Whoopie and the "real" heart and soul of America? That garbage REALLY helped Kerry in the red states didn't it.

Yep. That garbage. The topper was the retarded smile on John Kerry's face, sitting there all smug, just lapping it all up.

Yes, it is. But as St. Aquinas stated, the purpose of our civilization, of a leisurely life, is to have time to get to know God. If thugs continue such violence (hate crimes as they should now be labeled), this could have an intimidating effect on those who are still seeking.

We who have found the living water have an obligation not only to tell others about the well, but to ensure they are not ambushed along the way.
