Don't you think this qualifies as a need to know?

It's that way all over Texas. These guys don't get it. It's the system and they have never done anything about the roads since way back when oil made Houston.

This is from the same city that, at least in the late '70 had a rather bizarre practice. PD would call for X wreckers at an address. The tow truck drivers listen to PD and whoever got there first got the tow.

So you had tow trucks running WOT, weaving through traffic, to get to the accident so they could fight each other on the side of the road.

Then when business was slow, a few would get together on the side of the road with their lights on and pretty soon, they had some business.

Some things never change.

Same on the Chicago tollway. If you're disabled, they want your butt off of the road as quickly as possible. If you've got a flat, sometimes they can fix it right there.

"Get your broken down POS off my highway! I got places to be."

I'm with you!
I've been stuck on that verdammt Katy Freeway because some Mex is doing a roadside tuneup in one of the traffic lanes, or some dingleberry didn't bother to see if he had air in his tires before he left home.

$75 is damn cheap compared to the cost of making 5,000 people a half hour late for work or a business appointment.
