Without the int. return, fumbles and punt return, the game wouldn't have been close.while you ARE correct in that the Steelers' defense played well, that's an awful lot of events to gloss over.
I was particularly impressed with the Steelers' second-down defense. They had a good feel for what the Jets like to run in most 2nd-and-(blank) situations, in both short-yardage and long.
Cowher came out more aggressive than I expected on offense. While it might not have worked right away, I think it was smart, because most pundits expected him to prtoect his rookie QB from the pressure.

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette has been running a series of photos of the Steeler Nation.there's a neat Steelers' bar caled the Salty Dog in Ocean City MD. I've watched a few Eagles' games there.

from ESPN.com -- CBS suggested Roethlisberger injured his right thumb in pregame warmups. Turns out he didn't, but that was a distraction. So was the glove on his right hand. Though this was his fifth game in gloves, he had some difficulty with his grip with the glove and it threw off his throws.
Then whats he wearing them for? Throw those gloves in the Allegheny River! If he does everything will be okal-dokal, and that aint no garganzola.

From today's Post Gazette:
The win bought the Steelers one day of entertainment, because today they -- well, most of them -- plan to watch the Patriots-Colts game. The winner of that game travels to Heinz Field for the AFC championship Sunday.
That casts today's game in an odd light for the Steelers. It's half-business, half-pleasure. Or, for one player, no pleasure. "I've never watched a football game in my life," safety Troy Polamalu said, promising that wouldn't change today. "But, hopefully, the game goes into, like, 50 overtimes and lasts a few days. I'd be OK with that."
Polamalu is one funny guy.

The defense only gave up 275 total yards and THREE points! Without the int. return, fumbles and punt return, the game wouldn't have been close. ---
Right on!
Everything is okal-dokal with the Stillers, and that aint no garganzola.
But, Ben should remove those damn goves and throw them in the Allegheny River!
You lose your touch with those damn things on. They're for catching a ball, not tryint to throw (release) a ball!!!

I hope Brien doesn't get too much grief. I really felt bad for him, tho I wanted the Steelers to win.
I'm with you about Brien and really feel for him, his family and friends. Unlike you, I was pulling for the Jets. My elephant like memory can never get over the dislike I have for the Steelers. You see, I was a long suffering Oiler fan and will always remember getting robbed.

When is Lynn Swann going to announce his candidacy for the governorship of Pennsylvania? Swanny's got my vote (does it matter that I'm not a PA resident anymore?).

I remember the bad days. That's what makes it so sweet now. The Kordell days are just a bad memory now! The Kordell days were bad. But I remember 1969 (1 - 13).

Peep this Steelers history page. It refreshed my memory that future Supreme Court justice Byron "Whizzer" White played for the 1938 Pittsburgh football Pirates.

Punt returns are offense/defense. The defense was pretty poor on that one and the pass defense was not pretty.
I wanted the Steelers to win, but they were extremely lucky.

I'd also like to point out that the Steelers held the NFL leading rusher to 77 yards!

I was a long suffering Oiler fan and will always remember getting robbed. Are you talking about that playoff game when your receiver (name escapes me) caught the ball late in the game in the corner of the end zone a long time ago? He was ruled out of the end zone. If so, you may have been robbed, but you should have let some of the air out of Earl Campbell's overly huge thigh pads all those years.

But it was ugly, and we were lucky! I turned off the sound and watched every play in the game without distraction from announcers and commercials.
What amazed me about the game was the Jets offense didn't score a point and yet the Jets could have won the game if either of two kicks go through. (The scoring was done this way, 5 points by kickers, 6 points on a kick return, and 6 points on an interception return. Not one running or passing touchdown in the game for the Jets. - Tom

Ya think El Rushbo will have a rooting interest if his Steelers end up playing the (McNabb-led) Eagles in the Bowl? Oh, man.
