The families who sent their kids to prep school when I was a boy were almost all conservative, and so were most of the older families, although I knew a few flaming liberals even back then (I'd better not name them). But now, almost all the old blood and old money came out for kerry in the last election. The people who supported Bush were just ordinary folks without those elitist pretentions.

I think this is a lot of the reason that the elitists absolutely despise GWB so much. In their minds, he should be one of them -- Andover, Yale Harvard, his grandfather was actually Averell Harriman's (the real founder of the leftist Democrats, FDR was merely his front man) business partner. But Bush went out and made money on his own (after losing a bunch), and the left will never understand that.

The "old money" have figured out a very simple thing, leftist politics destroy COMPETITION and that is what they want -- with no competition, they remain wealthy and powerful.

Moderates, by nature, are contradictory: mostly, they just don't know what they believe in or hold the positions they do.

Wrong! I am a moderate, and I know exactly what I believe in. You may have different beliefs than I do, but that doesn't mean that mine aren't as strongly held as yours.

I think you listen to Rush too often.

It is time to get rid of Christine Todd Whitman, at the earliest opportunity!

Actually, I've NEVER listened to Rush. Wouldn't recognize the sound of his voice.

How do you define "moderate"?

How do you define "moderate"?

I assume by your tagline that you are a vehement anti-abortion person. I am anti-abortion, but I don't think the country is ready to overturn Roe v. Wade. I would prefer us to talk about SS reform, permanent tax cuts, guest worker programs (needed before we can close borders), educational issues, and tort reform before we bother to discuss the one issue that divides so many.

So, I would say "moderate" is anyone who puts an issue other than abortion at the top of the list of legislative action.

Repaid? She was an idiot before he rewarded her. What did he expect?

No, that's not a "moderate." That's someone willing to allow millions to die for tax cuts, social security reform, guest workers, educational issues and tort reform.

There's no "Great Book Of Moderates" in world history. That being said, if RINOs find us so objectionable, they could always become Democrats. The funny thing is they fear the Left more than they fear us. Apparently, those in the middle feel more comfortable with conservatives than they do with liberals.
