They forgot the part about "without a gun" when they are talking about it being a bad idea to confront an attacker. I guess that's one lesson they didn't learn. They need to talk to Gary Kleck or look through the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports to see how to keep from being injured in a robbery attempt.

"Regardless of what the victim said or did not say, the person responsible for her death is the one who pulled the trigger," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said earlier this week.

If some idiot criminal punk is holding a gun aimed at you. Try not to taunt. Its not television, its real life. There won't be reruns and royalties.

While the shooter should be executed in public, IMO, that is a really stupid thing to say to a man with a gun.

Oh, Darwin Award nominee?

You know, 15 years ago, I remember watching this guy with a giant mustache talking about how to deal with muggers.

He said, when confronted with a gun, grab your wallet and throw it away, run in the opposite direction. He stated most fatal gunshots occur within 10 feet, beyond 10 feet, chances of getting a fatal hit drop to almost zero. I don't know who he is, but some freeper will prolly identify him, but it's damn good advice. Unless you can blow the scumbag away, toss yer wallet and run. He also said to women, NEVER get in the vehicle. If you do, you're most likely going to be killed. If you get a chance to run, do it, beyond 10 feet, you're probably going to live.

I think that was really good advice and Ms. Dufrane prolly never heard it.

Whatever she may have said or done occurred at 3 a.m. after leaving a bar. She probably could have avoided being shot by being more submissive.

I know there's some sentiment around here, largely unspoken, that another leftie got wasted because she either wasn't carrying a gun, somehow deserved it because she was a leftie, or was somehow asking for it.

That's just wrong.

She didn't deserve this at all.

It demonstrates the false sense of security one feels when living in a no-gun state.

Apparently, the criminals don't obey laws - therefore, the chances of them having guns is quite high.

Duh.

Nicole duFresne shouldn't have taunted mugger...)

Nobody can guarantee that she would be alive if she had kept silent. Her mistake seems to have been bar-hopping in the wrong neighborhood, but who can say?

I'm getting really tired of hearing about this person, and hearing comments from her mother and black-eyed Kato Kaelin-esque boyfriend.

The only thing that seperates this late female from any other victim of violent crime in NYC is that she was one of the rising glittery people of stage and screen: An upcoming *star*!

... Namely, just the kind of people we can't stand around here.

Let's all work together to bury this story.

I think it should be classified as a "hate" crime. Put the libs up against their own sick logic.

If I were her father, the offal that murdered her would not live to stand trial. The wheels of justice turn far too slowly in our "enlightened" society.

I guess the NYC "gun control" program is working really well for everyone. [irony]

"A robbery "is more about power than anything," said Alfonso E. Lenhardt, president of the nonprofit council, known for its McGruff the Crime Dog mascot."

Hmmm, Funny. I thought it was about a scum bag that is too dysfunctional, and no good, to get a legitimate job trying to use force of some type to take my stuff without my permission. Neat fact though. Said turd will receive a lead injection at the same time he is receiving said property.

"It's a tragedy, but in this case it sounds like (the suspect) felt he wasn't getting the respect he was due," Lenhardt said.

Well, pointing a gun at somebody isn't the right way to go about trying to earn that person's respect.

I would encourage anyone in a "can't" carry city (or a "won't" carry state of mind), to at least carry some LE grade OC spray, learn to recognise potential threats (while there's still time to respond), but most of all, learn to know when and where you are most at risk and avoid putting yourself in those situations and be prepared.

It's just a guess, but I supposed that she was outraged at being picked by them. Didn't they know that a fine, upstanding liberal like herself was "on their side"?
