Women of all ideological stripes deeply dislike the woman.
I've heard a lot of voiced fear that women will turn out in droves to have a woman President. I'm not convinced. I know my sex. Yes, for some a woman President would be a draw. For that woman to be Hillary...
I wouldn't count on that "sister" loyalty being a lock.
The guy is right about her. A Dem candidate has yet to crack the 50% mark since Carter's first election. Hillary is polarizing. You can state Bush was polarizing, but Republicans have cracked 50% with 43, 41, Reagan and Nixon. Last time Dems cracked 50% was Carter's one term. We can afford to have a polarizing figure so long as everyone turns out. Dems turn out their base they have 48%-49% max. The only way Hill wins is by splitting the Republican base in two. I'm sure that is her intention but it's chancy. Dems would have a better chance taking a figure people don't dislike from the start to run.

Truer that most Freepers realize. Everyone thought Clinton didn't have a chance. What people don't understand the MSM will be 20000000x more excited for her than Kerry. They will try to convince everyone that the Republic will die unless she is elected. And, the biggest factor will be that the MSM will convince the gullible electorate that this will be the 3rd term of Clinton. B.Clinton will roll out the charm and be the one "essentially" running for her. If anyone thinks she has NO chance, then you don't know how single minded she is about becoming President. She would sell her soul to the Devil to get the chance. At this point, I can't see anyone on the Rep side to beat her. Make no mistake she will be formidable -- if only because of the propaganda the MSM will put forth. IT will make Goebbels look like an amateur.
How many men are going to vote for a sixty-something, tired and used-looking old hag to be president of the United States. Add to that the women in this country who find her repulsive personally and her ridiculous marriage a joke. I don't think she is the shoe-in everyone thinks she is.
I am never prone to agreeing with these kind of conjectures, but in this case I wouldn't be surprised.

A lot of people, FReeepers included, think she can win, but I just don;t think it's possible.
Maybe it would have been possible for her to win back in the 90's, but not today. At least not since Algore invented the internet. /sarcasm

I agree. A Dim winning in NY is no test. What plays in NY does not play across the country. She has none of Bill's charisma. She can try the middle all she wants, but it won't work for her. But I say, "Go ahead. Make our day"!
I agree Kerry got closer than most would have liked. But there was another dynamic going on that doesn't get a lot of scrutiny. Kerry only won one state that Gore didn't win in 2000, and that was a small EV northeastern states. NH maybe? But in all the states that Gore and Kerry won, The percentages they won by were much slimmer in 2004 than 2000.
At least some of that is due to the candidate, but everyone knows, even the Demwits, that some of that is the increasing irrelevance of the lame stream, old media. And once that toothpaste is out, it's not going to be easy to push it back in the tube. 2008 will see even less relevance of the LSM, and I think the kid gloves they treated Kerry with and the overwhelming rejection of their "Kerry Good, Bush Bad" message taught them that that play isn't going to work anymore.
Another thing is that I think with Kerry, the LSM showed unbelievable restraint in what they didn't cover. But that was a game they can't play anymore either, because the Beast wouldn't be an unknown to people outside of NY and MA. They may as well try to stop night from falling than not report the stench that comes from the klintoons. There's so much stench that comes from them that the only thing that would smell worse is if LSM ignored it completely.
I'm not saying the LSM would like it, but I think their little trick with Kerry won't play the same with Shrillary and they know it.
I would adopt hubby's strategy and split the opposition's vote using some west-coast or sunbelt RINO like McCain, running as an independent like Perot or Anderson.
Someone like McCain is doubly dangerous, since a third-party McCain ticket would split the male vote as well as the Republican vote, while tending to corral the female vote for Hillary.
If I were a Republican strategist, I would counter this move by nominating someone like Rice for the top Republican candidate slot. Rice would steal the feminist thunder and attract minorities, without substantially diluting the conservative male vote (IOW, an ideal, or near-ideal, Republican headliner for the 2008 ticket). A third party McCain candidacy would then probably fold under the pressure of being perceived as just another old white guy being squeezed by two women candidates on either end of the political spectrum. (With apologies to toe-suckers everywhere!)
This scenario would be enhanced by Cheney taking early leave of the V.P. for medical reasons and being replaced by Rice sometime (say) in early 2006.
w did not win by much. Kerry was a disaster, i think 08 is ominious for us. We might be able to win, but it is not going to be as easy as 88.
