"LOL,This guy said there is no such thing as the UN. I also liked his lines about knocking 10 floors of the UN and it not making a difference. The killer is his opposition to just about every UN proposal. If John Bolton is pro UN, then Senator Jesse Helms worships the ground its on."
When we think of criticism of the UN, we usually think of the John Birch Society kind of criticism, i.e., "Get us out!" Bolton's criticism is from the opposite direction, i.e., that the UN lacks the will and the military muscle to support America's wars and crush all opposition to American/Israeli/internationalist policy.
"No-talent assclown" BUMP ;)
Bolton hopefully will be in the Jeanne Kirkpatrick tradition.
John Kerry praised Reagan's foreign policy for working with our allies during a debate with Bush. Kirkpatrick was an important element in Reagan's policies. Therefore, Bolton's appointment could even make Kerry happy.
Of course, if Kerry was being disingenuous in his praise of Reagan this would not be the case.
Are you crazy? "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."
Its debatable in some sense.
in the 90's, he wrote articles for AEI, that basically ripped both Clinton and the UN.
He seemed opposed to just about every UN mission, and came across as a serious opponent of all peace keeping missions. I'm sure those articles will be popping up now in his confirmation hearings. Generally, he hasn't been on the same page as most of the Republican party in regards to the UN.
The reason I made the Senator Helms referance, is because Bolton is a long time protege of Senator Helms, and Helms had a quote, that to me is the highest compliment.
Roughtly "John Bolton is the kind of man with whom I would want to stand at Armageddon".
That alone makes me a supporter.
I am absolutely convinced that if the US were to pull out of the UN, that Israel, the UK, Ireland, Australia and several other countries would soon follow suit. If this occurred, the UN would collapse within a year or so.

Never mind Israel, et al. Just the US pulling out would do it, and in a heck of a lot less time than a year. And good riddance.
"Great move putting Bolton in there!"
If he does any good he will drag them over to our side, if he simply makes them angry ( oh, boo hoo ) it will leave a very bad taste in their mouth for even thinking about electing an ex-US President to Secretary General.
Looks like a Win-Win to me
