Depends on what your definition of famous is...most people unfortunately have no clue. More people know more about jessica simpson than these great men unfortunately.
Jackson was a professor at VMI at not an alumnus.
George C. Marshall - 1901 and the most famous alumnus
Chesty Puller - Was a rat
George Patton - Was a rat
General Jumper - Chief of Staff of the US Airforce
General Binford Peay - Commander 101st Airborne Division for Desert Storm and Supe of VMI
Admiral Byrd - Antartic Explorer
Col. Hickey - Led team that captured Saddam Hussein
Jonathan Daniels - Martyr in the Anglican Church and civil rights hero.
Dabney Coleman - Actor
Danny Lyle - US National Rugby team member and on the Baath
England team.
That is just a sampling...
Now if you want today's famous...there were two vmi guys that were on 'The Real World'. Whooopdeeedooo!
Stonewall Jackson graduated from West Point. He was a VMI professor.
VMI's catalog states:
"Among the alumni of VMI: a Nobel Prize winner, ten
Rhodes Scholars, seven Medal of Honor recipients, a
Pulitzer Prize winner, a Supreme Court Justice, 39 college
presidents and 266 generals and flag officers."
Chesty Puller - Was a rat
George Patton - Was a rat
Does this mean they attended but did not graduate? Thanks for your info. VMI is tops in my book.
They went there their first year. In Patton's time, the only real place to get a commission was West Point. So after a year at VMI, he went to WP. Almost all of Patton's relatives before him were VMI alums. I think Chesty just enlisted.
If you go through and complete the ratline, you are considered an alumnus unless you get booted for an honor court violation.
Rah Va. Mil...... I still had a few liberal profs. when I went there, but this article is priceless!
Rah Va. Mil! A few yes, but nothing compared to other schools. She is pretty gutsy...I love it.
Never was.
- its about politics and the liberal agenda.
Always was.
Their purpose is to divide America along gender lines and distort our traditional values. The fight for abortion is to diminish life itself as something granted or extinguished for convenience sake. Makes it easier to do the same with adults once the acceptance is there. The Shiavo case is a recent example but healthy individuals will easily become inconvient when the left fully controls.
The NAACP does the same with the races. The ACLU attacks targets of opportunity but with the same goal in mind.
Patton went to VMI for a year and then transferred to West Point and entered in a freshman class.
I feel a kinship with any academy grad, big 'A' or small 'a'. The author made a distinction. I guess it could be argued that there is, because some are always trying to see how one is better than the others. I feel a similar kinship with anyone who has served and is serving now. I even feel a kinship with a civilian instructor like the author. My salute back to her for her passion and love for her special students.
