they called the law "racist".
Requiring someone to show proof of identity is racist. Damn, 7-11's all over the country will have to change their ways.

...lo and behold 80% of Georgians support showing id to vote.
They obviously didn't poll the deceased.

The racist angle is a typical Georgian ploy. When it rains at my house and doesn't rain in downtown Atlanta the weather is called racist.
Voting bill leads to Democratic walkout at Capitol
Democratic critics compared the effort to the poll taxes, literacy tests and other laws aimed at suppressing black votes during segregation. They said poor and minority voters are more likely to be without photo ID than other voters.
"What's happening today is just an updated form of Jim Crow," said Fort, referring to segregation-era laws that suppressed black voting. "You may be more polite about it ... but we know who's going to be disenfranchised."
In an emotional speech, Sen. Kasim Reed, D-Atlanta, shouted that senators were "stabbing race relations in the heart" by pushing the plan.

My mother, age 82, quit driving and gave up her driver's license. She immediately went to the Secretary of State's office and got an official PICTURE ID card to replace it. I don't know of any states that don't have this provision.

"Just require the same kinds of identification these folks need to receive basic government services. And what, pray tell, is that?"
Jeez, you mean now the gummint is going to demand identification before they have me bend over and grab my ankles?

"We did not hear one shred of evidence that there is voter fraud in this state," Anchia said. "If this was a court of law, this case would be thrown out for lack of evidence." It seems Rep. Anchia isn't aware of which branch of government he is in. Rep. Anchia, you are in the LEGISLATURE. It is your responsibility to write laws, not try legal cases.
