"well....great athlete he is.....but living in the Bay Area I can say this couldn't be happening to a nicer egotistical ba**ard"

Back before he was the "Hulk" he is now he was playing at Wrigley field and while batting the bat flew out of his hands and injured a kid in the stands. He went over to as close as he could get and tried to see if the kid was ok. He made sure the kid got another bat and showed real heart in the situation and acted like taking care of the kid was the only thing he cared about at that time. He took a couple minutes and then went back to the plate. He got my utmost respect for that.

please....a corked bat isnt going to give Sosa that big a boost....and not only that, they would have found more had he had them....

you can accuse all you want, but I want some proof. A Rod is a 30-30 guy. If he can do it now, why couldnt a 23 yr old Bond do it in what was it 1985 or 86? Certainly he had the talent to do it...

the scandal won't go away with Bonds leaving.

Every injury for the next 20 years will be vigorously researched...

the problem is, it isnt just today's players. They were doing this back in the 60's and 70's as well.

It is a witch hunt now. There will be no good coming out of this...

With respect, you're missing the main point of thestory, though admittedly it wasn't really stressed enough..Bonds, like Al Capone, is going down on income tax evasion..Remember the story a few months ago, about his old girl friend, who first went public with the tale of unreported cash from selling memoralbilia/autographs, all because Bonds backed out on his promise to buy her a house? Well..it's 1-10 that she's an IRS informer, and if I recall, the IRS pays informants 25$ of whatever is finally recovered. And NO WY the government allows Bonds to coip a plea, pay a fine..he'll do hard time..lots of it..

A portion of that headline is accurate enough on its own:

MLB reportedly fears Bonds

At least point out where I missed it....

I am not missing anything. This knee problem that keeps cropping up is BS totally. MLB does not need this type of thing on top of the steroid scandal and the Giants are losing more of their rather large gear for their machine this year.....

Before:

After:

I remember this guy at Arizona State -- he was fantastic without the juice. Such a waste of talent. Would have been in the hall for sure.

They don't need it..but it's there..also..another point to the Giants behavior..He's seeing his own indicited trained, and using his own suspeneded doctor for the surgeries...and he most likely won't play this year. He gettign paid $15 mioll or more, and the contract is NOT insured..So, if he's indicted for steroid trafficing, perjury, and tax fraud..that's some trifecta..look fore the Giants to sue to void the contract.get the money back they've paid..and will the Player's Association want to expend their PR fighting for Bonds?

The Union will dump him quicker than the Dems did to Condit...

You said exactly what I have been thinking....

Bonds is done. I will be extremely surprised if he comes back at all....

the first pic didnt come in, but you are right...

as I said, I remember Bonds when he first came up with the Pirates (it was before we could get the Orioles on TV there in PA, so we had the Pirates). He was fast, he was strong, he played defense, he did everything...sure you lose that with age, but who is going to have a 2nd prime, one in which your homers go up 40%? No one did until Bonds did it.

It was just his rookie card from Pittsburgh. Maybe they could put him in the hall with his Pirates' uni. Or have us vote on a "young Barry" "old Barry" stamp like they did with Elvis.
