There are 200k armed goons of various stripes in the FedGov.

Are you saying 30k of them could NOT be coverted into an infantry division? Who would even notice they were gone?

I pay enough taxes. Let the tax eaters fight for their own gravy train.

I printed out and mailed these charts to the National Republican Committee and told them to take me off their mailing lists and email lists:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1400545/posts?page=59#55

I see no reason why anyone should donate to the Republican party. You get a much better bang for your buck and you can be certain it's getting spend on shrinking government with these guys (Club For Growth):
http://www.clubforgrowth.org/why.php

From those charts before it looks like the GOP is doing the opposite of what the people who donate to it want it to do.

There is a war going on Sherlock. Theres no such book as "War on Terrorism on 15$ a day."

You really believe that? Look at the numbers - the new security spending is but a drop. Almost all of it is pork.

Socialism is socialism even if it brought to us by the Republican party. The sad truth is the Republicans have walked away from fiscal responsibility - China (with 30+% of their economy going through the government) is now much more capitalist than the USA (with 50+% of the economy going through the government.)

Just why did we fight the cold war?

Unsustainable

Anyone think 12-15% spending increases year after year is sustainable? If oil went up to $90/barrel (like it did (corrected for inflation)in the 1970s) it wouldn't just be a recession this time.

This will not end well.

"Did you read the article? Govt. abuse, fraud, and waste. No accountability. It sure adds up.
That's not even counting the higher social spending...."

That's what caught my eye. And doing "No Child Left Behind" only adds to the government power.

"The premise of record breaking waste along with the poster comments of blaming only conservatism are what brought my comments"

Then you should re-read the comments. I nor anyone else here have blamed conservatives. The question is if conservatives are ruling DC. The answer appears to be no.

Nope, I am not the enemy. It is the lazy office worker who is not doing his/her job to follow up on the accounting, and it is the crooked employee who is scamming the company, i.e. the United States Government. I would be happy to go up there and hire some good qualified folks for them and train them. I never had any problems with my employees when I was working.

Dang, this was impressive about CFG:

"When you donate to a recommended candidate through the Club for Growth PAC, your check is written out to the candidate’s campaign account, and NOT the Club. This ensures that 100% of your contribution goes directly to help support that candidate’s campaign, and not a penny is used for overhead."

You may have something there.

They are an amazing political organization. They have played large roles in a number of important elections, especially the ones people don't pay attention to like Republican primaries. Even better, just the threat of thousands of CFG members donating to a race can enable CGF leaders to get the Republicans to nominate who they (CFG) want (Virgina). And their near overthrow of Specter helps change wavering RINO Senators votes. It takes the power away from the Republican establishment and places it where it belongs - with the people.

If someone has a (R) in front of their name it tells you nothing. If someone has the CFG appproval it tells you everything. It looks to me that they are manuvering Mike Pence for pres in 08. He's too conservative for me on social issues, but near perfect on everything else. I'll take it.

I split my time supporting the CFG and Libertarian candidates. (When I say supporting, unfortunately, I most often mean cheerleading) :)

"federal government costs 33 percent more than in 2001."

I'm sorry...but "conservatives" dominated our government/elections for the past five years?

Why have we gotten the largest expansion of the welfare state in 70 years (Bush's $600 billion medicare entitlement)

Why is our national debt about to hit 8 TRILLION dollars?

Republicans...the party of small government? HA!

"I don't see any way to fix that problem in our democracy except to repeal the income tax amendment."

You're right. But it won't happen.
