Bush's sons showed pretty clearly they were cut from a bit different cloth, thank goodness. They're both pretty much religious conservatives, while GHWB was more of a New England moderate, something of a pro-life convert and coined "voodoo economics". Jeb sure differentiated himself from the get-go with his campaign in '94 -- I don't remember Dubya's beginnings that well and how much he stressed his religious conservatism and supply side philosophy, but it sure became apparent by the time he ran for prez.
So...... completely different actually.
I find this very hard to believe. I would expect some of the RATS who voted against Priscilla Owen to vote for Janice Rogers Brown. Can't say that for Pryor, but even if a few of 55 Republicans don't back him, and Landrieu and Byrd come over from their party, he should be fine.
This is not the first time she has broken ranks with her party on this issue. I think it was before last years election that there was a battle over a judge named Holmes. Same stuff--controversy heavily rooted in feminist opposition. Landrieu voted to confirm him while Kay Bailey Hutchinson and a couple of other female Republican senators voted against him. The vote was really close but he did make it thanks to a couple of Democrats. I'm sure Zell Miller was one.
I find it interesting that you actually take the positions and actions of Bush's sons into account when you evaluate them.
It's a laudable action, judging them based on their positions and actions. I just find it interesting that you won't apply it to Pat DeWine as well.
Obviously you'd like your boyfriend to get elected and entrenched in the House and get to the Senate and bend us over and screw us just like his old man before you would agree that maybe, just maybe, he's not the guy to entrust with a congressional seat.
