and many flaws have been introduced into "the system"... such as direct election of senators, etc.

it would be a whole lot easier for a state legislature to recall a weak and harmful senator than it is for the people of a state to recall one.

the 17th amendment was definitely a turning point for the country.

The Left has commandeered the word liberal, and I for one refuse to let them have it. The word means open minded and freedom loving. It comes from the same root as liberty. These people are the opposite of all this. They are totalitarian, closed minded, contemptuous of freedom, and the opposite of liberal.

To refer to Leftists as liberal is as Orwellian as "love is hate" and "war is peace."

great now the cities can take out the high crime areas and make a decent for human habitation

(Did you forget a sarcasm tag?) Using that same logic, cities can break up Republican-leaning voting areas and make them "safe" for Democratic candidates.
