"What are they so upset about? Or is this just what passes for youthful highjinks in Atlanta?"
It's a cultural thing.
I had to attend a City of Atlanta city council meeting in connection with a zoning matter years ago. My main recollection of that meeting was 1) the amount of time the council members spent blathering about nothing in particular (the gasbags in US Senate have got nothing on these folks), and 2) the amount of time the council members spent blathering and patting themselves on the back for renaming a street for some local worthy.
Meanwhile, the city's sewer and storm water infrastructure continues to crumble. Maybe these folks will get around to talking about it some day.
i was driving thru' flagstaff, az at 2300 hours about 8 years ago when someone threw a piece of steel from an overpass? onto my pickup.
apparently it was intended for my windshield, but missed.
it left a 1/2" deep hole in my 1997 nissan pickup hood.
Atlanta Idiots try to drive gas prices higher by preventing gasoline from being delivered
And there is no sarcasm intended in this article. If idiots go around destroying equipment, someone has to pay for it.
Yes, but at least it is no longer named for a dead white southern male, so it is now politically correct to drive on it.
If the truck had blown up & taken out 2 square miles, it would have been considered "urban renovation".
"think Tammany Hall or the old Daley machine minus the competence."
LMAO! It's funny because it's TRUE!
"Thousands of hours and millions of dollars to re-name roads after political hacks who did their part or somebody who "needed some recognition"."
You're forgetting Hartsfield-Jackson-Campbell-McKinney-King-Jackson(Jesse)-King(MLK III)-Jackson(Michael)-Daddy(Puff)-Vick International Airport!
Yeah, right. All except for the freedom to legally return fire.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go hang some 1/2" steel plate on the sides of my '97 Lumina and beef up the suspension. I'm hoping that the solid rubber tires I ordered will arrive this week.
I thought for sure Atlanta would hire Chief Charles Moose back when he was between jobs. That would be so very par for the course, but I guess they opted for a local incompetent instead.
"I thought for sure Atlanta would hire Chief Charles Moose back when he was between jobs"
Wow - he would've been a perfect choice....perfect to sit around and point fingers at others after the Brian Nichols courthouse slaughter that was 100% due to the incompetence of the APD.
But first he would have ignored the tape of Brian Nichols shooting everybody for as long as possible so as to go chasing after some angry white men in a panel van.
I don't know why I am making fun of Moose. The APD spent all day chasing after Nichols in a car that was still parked in a garage.
No blood for oil trucks!
Sounds like a better name now would be "Crackhead Hiighway."
Stay off of Bankhead Highway. It's like Gary or East St. Louis.
Funny!! True!!
Atlanta firefighters arrived at the scene about 2:30am and saw people standing on top of the overturned tanker as the driver tried to crawl out of the cab.
The neighbors cause a fuel tanker to flip, and then they run over and get on top of it?
This has to rate as one of the stupidest events of the year.
I agree. One must protect themselves or face the consequences.
Punks? I'm guessing "thugs" or "gangstas" would be more accurate.
