Henry A. Grunwald, a Time magazine editor who led the publication's shift from conservatism to a more centrist view, then later became a United States ambassador to Vienna, has died. He was 82.

By 1973, he had loosened Time's habitual political conservatism to such a degree that he wrote the first editorial in magazine's 50-year history. It called for the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon.

Under his leadership, Time Inc. closed the Washington Star, launched and sold Discover magazine, and lost $50 million on a cable TV magazine.

Besides his daughter, Grunwald is survived by his wife Louise Melhado; two other children, Peter Grunwald and Lisa Grunwald Adler; a stepson Bob Savitt; and four grandchildren.

GMMB. That was the 1992-Clinton-campaign PR firm she joined as media consultant. Jim Margolis was one of the M's and I'm trying to remember/figure out who the others were.

This is more an exercise in memory for me than anything. I do recall a lot of gossip about her daddy getting her the position, and, after the election, her name appeared on the roster somehow. GMMB&G.. something to that effect. Then, she quit, presumably for greener pastures, and then, GMMB took off for parts unknown.

Greer! Frank Greer.. Greer/Margolis. It came back and sounds really familiar now. GMMB.

Greer, Margolis, Mitchell, Burns & Associates (GMMB), the ultra-heavy-duty Democratic political consulting firm that maintains a Seattle office. (Frank Greer worked on Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign; Jim Margolis is doing media for Massachusetts Senator John Kerry's run for the presidency this year.) - 2003

not sure if this means anything to anything, but now *I* don't have to wish I could remember. :-)

Grunwald Communications -- there's a Grunwald Communications and a Grunwald Associates. "Grunwald, P & Assoc." must be Peter. He appears to be doing busywork with the National School Boards Foundation.

Check out this tidbit. Funny stuff! From 2004:

http://sagwatchdog.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi/noframes/read/302

From what I can tell, Fleishman-Hillard, an international PR firm which bought GMMB, ticked off this SAG chapter in southern California. They quote an L.A. Times article. I don't know what the Consolidation Fiasco was.

You want corrections?......

Huffington, Arianna conservative columnist.

Since when? I don't think so. When her hubby came out, she flipped.

The list is a great start, but there needs to be a nexus between their spouse and their spouse's job. Kinda like who is the Fed Chairman's wife and where does she work? This way we can see where the stories are coming from. Finding out that Cooper's wife is Gruenhilda would have raised most folk's eye brows the minute his name was mentioned, but I didn't know him from Adam.

All you Freepers with no life start fillin in the blanks here. Just having one name and where they work,.... well we probably already know that if we read their stuff. Just like Christianne Amanpour, we already know we don't like her, but then we find out why with her husband. And if we don't like Rubin, then we know where her stories come from and how it gets on the air. It's a conspiracy, I tell ya!

There seems to be a almost incestous relationship between the RATS and the MSM.

A little speculation!!

Mandy Grunwald is married to Cooper.

Mandy's father died in February 2005 after having a heart attack the previous year. Maybe he was the original source.

If the old man told Mandy and she told hubby, it might be why we can't get to the orignal source. It likely also means that Hillary knew as the baby shower points to a more than political relationship.

Good old Mr. Wilson got his reward: advisor to Kerry's campaign. (Hillary couldn't put Wilson & Grunwald in the same office. Might look suspicious).
