As hard as it may be to believe, they're even worst than the mullahs. Iran just needs time for the kids to grow up and they'll overthrow the whole corrupt regime. Provoking a fight now will just play into the mullahs' hands the way Saddam's invasion allowed Khomeini to consolidate the Revolution.

Agreed!

I have friends in Iran who dislike the MEK more than the Mullahs though!

Fairy tale.

They say you can't tell the players without a program. If so, I need a program.

I suppose you were one of the ones predicting that the Soviet Union would last for centuries, as well? The desire for freedom erodes totalitarian states as surely as a humble river carved the Grand Canyon.

Marxist Islamic?

Gotta think about that one. Sounds like a contradiction in terms.

“We worked very hard to bring together people who normally don’t talk to each other,” said Roozbeh Farahanipour, secretary general of Iranians for a Secular Republic (Marzepor Gohar). Farahanipour was a key leader in the July 1999 student uprising in Tehran and fled to the United States two years later.

I'm glad to hear Iranians are willing to work together on this issue. The diversity of the crowd and the solidarity they showed against terrorism and for democracy was inspiring. It was an important demonstration and although there are a few missguided individuals who prefer to be divisive in the midst of historic solidarity, their commentary is not the norm!

No one who attended the event can consider Mr. Timmerman's account fair or balanced. He must be trying to compensate for not been invited to speak on the main stage. Better luck next time Mr. T! BTW F14, Did you make it to the demo?

"No one who attended the event can consider Mr. Timmerman's account fair or balanced."

Oh really? Wanna bet?
It figures you'd have something petty to say about Timmerman. Truth about MEK hurts, huh?

No, unfortunately.

I wish I had a digital camera with me that day.

There was a group that traveled here from the SE that looked like they had been taken straight out of central casting.

The Arkansas Razorbacks t-shirts, trucker caps; I swear, these guys looked like a fitting a subject for a Jeff Foxworthy skit.

There were also a bunch of teenagers and young adults who were there representing the "International Fund."

When I asked them what that organization stood for they gave me quizzical stares, finally admitting that they had been paid to attend the rally.

They should have talked to the local RATS. They could have got a rent-a-mob at much cheaper rates, but then again that would be thinking like a capitalist wouldn't it?

"Marxist Islamic? Gotta think about that one. Sounds like a contradiction in terms."

Doesn't make much sense does it? However, it’s easy to repeat and sounds very very bad. If you have a computational mind, thinking about it may put your brain into an infinite loop. "Marxist Islamic" is effectively a manifestation of the liar paradox; "This statement is false". It can't be reconciled, no matter how hard we think about it.
