Leak of Agent's Name Causes Exposure of CIA Front Firm

The leak of a CIA operative's name has also exposed the identity of a CIA front company, potentially expanding the damage caused by the original disclosure, Bush administration officials said yesterday.
The company's identity, Brewster-Jennings & Associates, became public because it appeared in Federal Election Commission records on a form filled out in 1999 by Valerie Plame, the case officer at the center of the controversy, when she contributed $1,000 to Al Gore's presidential primary campaign.
After the name of the company was broadcast yesterday, administration officials confirmed that it was a CIA front. They said the obscure and possibly defunct firm was listed as Plame's employer on her W-2 tax forms in 1999 when she was working undercover for the CIA.
Plame's name was first published July 14 in a newspaper column by Robert D. Novak that quoted two senior administration officials.

Brewster Jennings & Associates was a front company set up by the CIA for Valerie Plame
Plame's status was revealed by Robert Novak (based on leaked information) in a 2003 column. In an interview on CNN, he said "Wilson's wife, the CIA employee, gave $1,000 to Gore and she listed herself as an employee of Brewster-Jennings & Associates. There is no such firm, I'm convinced." It later turned out that BJ&A did exist for all intents and purposes, listed on the Dun & Bradstreet database of company names.
A spokeswoman for Dun & Bradstreet Inc., a New Jersey operator of commercial databases, said Brewster Jennings was first entered into its records on May 22, 1994, but wouldn't discuss the source of the filing. Its records list the company, at 101 Arch St., Boston, Massachusetts, as a "legal services office," which could mean a law firm, with annual sales of $60,000, one employee, and a chief executive identified as "Victor Brewster, Partner."
101 Arch St. is a multi-tenant, class A, high rise, 21-story, 389,000 square foot (36,000 m²) office building located in the Boston financial district that houses a number of law firms, though there was no visual indication of Brewster Jennings being centered there. "All it was was a telephone and a post office box" a former intelligence official was quoted as saying [2], although the company was listed in an online database of law firms.
Intended to infiltrate ties between groups involved in smuggling nuclear weapons, it was apparently named after the late Brewster Jennings, who served as president of a predecessor company to Exxon Mobil Corporation.

Recently, CIA Director George Tenet and Plame's ultimate boss, Deputy Director of Operations James Pavitt, suddenly resigned within hours of one another. Intelligence sources have said the two have been cooperating with Fitzgerald's investigation of the Plame/Brewster-Jennings leak and the damage to U.S. clandestine operations which globally track the flow of WMDs.
Sensitive CIA operations that were compromised by the leak included companies, government officials, and individuals associated with the nuclear smuggling network of Pakistan's chief nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan. In addition, the identities of U.S. national and foreign agents working within the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, North Korea's nuclear laboratory in Yongbyon, Pakistan's Kahuta uranium enrichment plant, banks and export companies in Dubai, Islamabad, Moscow, Cape Town, Tel Aviv, Liechtenstein, Cyprus, and Kiev, and Kuala Lumpur, and government agencies in Libya, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Iran were severely compromised. The CIA has reportedly given Fitzgerald highly classified details on the damage done to the CIA's WMD tracking network.

You have to know it's classified to be a crime, as i understand it. I have not seen it demonstrated that either Libby or the reporters knew it was classified.. somebody in another thread posted that Libby's chief assistant testified that Libby knew it was classified but I have not verified that.
huMMMM Will Brewster and Jennings end up on the list of Oil for Food money recievers? Any bets. I can't think of any other reason that the CIA would be working so desperately to protect a vicious dictator like Saddamn. It has to be money involved somewhere. And we all know what links they will go to to protect their own rogue activities.

If we and everyone else including the media are confused on her "classification", even Libby could be with the "outed" history on this woman; and now this outspoken flashy husband writing a op-ed piece for the Times. All this could cause anyone to quiz for answers..as that is just what you do when you have an "inquiring mind".

I agree. Although when I get a minute I will double check that Freepers post that said that Libby's asisstant testified that Libby was aware the information was classified.
No one with a doubting mind has ever dismissed the CIA from the JFK affair.

I don't KNOW anything about it for sure. Just trying to figure out why Novak is not named in the indictment and the source is still unknown to the public. Was Novak called by the GJ? Trying to get my head around why the original source of the Witch Hunt is suddenly a non-issue?

She was not a clandestine officer at the time that that article in "Vanity Fair" appeared. And I have every right to have the American public know who I am and not to have myself defined by those who would write the sorts of things that are coming out, being spewed out of the mouths of the RNC...
right they don't have to be ruthless or break laws to crush the left ! how about sending out people who can not only defend positions , but are aggressive enough to bring the fight to the left. show them for what they are. the majority of peolple will recoil in horror at what is revealed. end the new tone jive and replace scott whoever..

Patsies. And the thought shapers must know this, because they are so expert at manipulating them. It's really diabolical when you think about it. Then throw in the Hollywood and higher education branches, and you have a pretty effective propaganda machine.
A reading in Church today really hit the spot. I think it was from Psalm 119 (not sure) and I can't recall it exactly, but it was about God's grace when it looks like the evil are winning. They are not.
