The girl was interviewed. She didn't say she was in fear for her life. She said she thought that she was doing the right thing and cooperating with the police.

If this girl had picked up the phone, she would have been abusing someone else.

Hmmm... wonder if a guy could get her number.

You don't think supervisors owe their employees a duty to defend their civil rights from criminals isdide and outside government, when such are in jeopardy? I sure as hell do.

Yeah, I love showing her pics like this. Cambodia, BTW. She was 17, traveling on her own, at the time, so she was a year younger than the kid in the story. She really was homeschooled except for three years of HS. And she really *does not* take crap from people.

Point is, some of this is due to her personality, but we as parents also claim credit for teaching her to take care of herself.

You want to stop a 200 lb man dead? Get a good grip on a ball point pen and jam it in his ear as hard as you can. Case closed.

Disclaimer: I've not watched the video or the clip, yet.

I am one of 'those posters' that is - at least partially - blaming the victim. I can't believe that anyone, short of a *very* young child, would be naive enough to let themselves be taken advantage of in this manner.

Trying to put myself in that situation...... I'm 17. My manager takes me in her office. Says that "We have something to talk about". OK. "Turn out my pockets." OK

Turn over my cell and car keys? I'd start getting suspicious. Take off my clothes? I'd tell the manager to go to h*ll.

And, as a rebellious teenager, I might have told them to go there a little earlier.

Truly, I find the stupidity and complacency of all the employees involved astonishing. The Mananger in particular for believing this idiot on the phone, and all of the other employees for going along with it.

It does make me wonder, though, if I started calling fast food restaurants at random, and told them that I was from the IRS and to turn over the day's receipts to me, how many would do just that.

What a bizzare concept. McDonalds as the defender of civil rights.

Where did you come by that concept?
