The system's high lethality (aircraft kill probability of 0.92-0.95) is maintained at altitude of 10 – 6,000 m'.

Excellent post. So it appears if we stay above 20,000 feet or so the lethality begins to reduce. As I understand it our precision bombing can operate at higher altitudes than that, though I am no expert on such things.

Perhaps Iran's placement of these missiles will give us a clue as to where their nuclear reactors lie.

Things in transit make good targets.

While a very tempting option, I would only pursue it if the technology being transferred here is beyond our capability to reliably overcome in the event of an aerial attack of Iran's nuclear capability. Interdicting and destroying the shipment, while satisfying (as I mentioned in an earlier post), would sever Russia from any helpful contribution to our WOT. We have to count the cost.

But for a spook like Putin, this "aid" is his ticket to get a military that *can* project force (e.g. Israel and/or the U.S.) into that region...to destroy a Russian oil competitor and Chechnyan terrorist supporter (e.g. Iran).

Your analysis, while interesting, is too clever in my view. More likely Putin simply wants some quick cash that a sizable weapons sale will give him. The former Soviet Union had a long relationship with the Islamists and terrorists of the Middle East, and Putin is betting that we'll allow this sale (and he is probably right.)

The Kremlin has and continues supplying the unstable Islamic terrorist régime in Tehran with whatever nuclear capabilities the Muslim clerics are more then willing to pay for.

The North Koreans, Red China, very willing Pakistani nuclear scientists, plus others, are some of the other key players filling the Mullahs nuclear weapons technology orders.

"MK Dr. Yuval Shteinitz (Likud), Chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, said that Israel must take seriously a warning by an Iranian official that Tehran is working towards establishing 20 nuclear reactors."

"The head of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, has said that Iran has issued permits for the construction of another 20 nuclear power plants. Two are slated to be built in March 2006."

"Shteinitz added that Iran is seeking to become a global nuclear power, working toward building tens of nuclear weapons in the coming years."

The first wave are Russian transport aircraft that slip through U.S. radar disguised as commercial airlines.

Do you have any idea how many Russian transports would have to fly over to make an invasion force? That many aircraft is gonna cause some major concerns, disguised or not...and lots of smoking craters when they are shot down.

I discovered that. If we have a war, Russia can work to open sea lanes in the Indian Ocean without a nut ass government. Also, there will be spikes in oil prices in Russia's favor, and spikes in Russian political gains.

Russia has a major oil contract with China, and so does Iran. Russia has had a major hand in developing Iranian oil capacity.

I understand that Russia wants this war for a number of economic and political reasons.

Leftist 'friends' ; even when 'distant'. . .is a misnomer. . .

These people truly serve only their 'own'. . .
