Elaine Morgan, author of Aquatic Ape? Very entertaining author.

Re-reading more carefully, the article acknowledges that erectus arose in Africa and that later species arose from erectus. The kicker is that ergaster from which it evolved may have spread back there from Asia or something.
Maybe, but where's the evidence? The habilines are all in Africa as I recall.

I think I acknowledged the lack of proof in my first note. All I say is keep an open mind. The jigsaw puzzle is immense and lots of pieces are missing. Very little work has been done in that part of the world to date. I think it's scientifically healthy that someone is at least considering the possibility of Asian origins.

Every time some people think they know everything, along comes a new discovery and "the game is afoot."
That is what keeps some of us going and doing research.

Every time some people think they know everything, along comes a new discovery and "the game is afoot." In science the game is always 'afoot.' Remember 100 years ago or so someone suggested closing the Patent Office because everything worthwhile had already been discovered?

All I can say is......if the first humans really did come out of Africa, all those they left behind were the slackers....
I doubt there is any place on the planet as deeply mired in Turd World status -- as Africa...

"Check their passports. That should tell them something about their country of origin"
Thats silly, it would be easier to tell by their accents.

The first humans were Conservatives. Liberals were a horrendous mutation which came later and we are still attempting to eradicate!

Well, I for one hope we never solve all the mysteries of the universe. What would life be like with no unponderables to ponder?

Well, that could be a giveaway but . . . . . look at how many Americans try to do a British accent. Suppose some of those early humans are FAKING their accents??

Suppose some of those early humans are FAKING their accents??Its OK, we Brits can tell easily when Americans are faking British accents. For example, just listen to the farcical fake Manchester accent of Martin's nurse in Frasier. Have you ever heard anything like it? Oh.. wait... she *is* English.
I heard that American ladies go nuts for a man with an English accent. But it didn't work for me in DC or NYNY. Maybe my close physical resemblance to John Merrick didn't help.

Humans originated on Santa Catalina and migrated west until they arrived back in California 7000 years ago.
