They target Republicans so it's "no big whoop". If they had slashed the tires of a minority, say on MLK day before the parade, then there would be all sorts of "hate crimes" laws to come into play (even the Constitution does not enumerate political beliefs, only discrimination with regards to sex, creed, or color).

I think that election tampering is a serious offense that should warrant serious jail time and up to and including the death penalty for some possible offenses.

It is ABSOLUTELY against everything this country was founded on.

OK, if they plead no contest, does that make them eligble for federal election tampering charges?

Dunno. Seems to me if federal charges were possible those would have been the first charges. OTOH all elections in Milwaukee are subject to the city's election commission so who knows.

Your post gave me a new tagline.

Glad to be of service. I'll add "tagline writer" to my resume. :-)

Can the Republican Party of Wisconsin go after them for restitution or civil damages?

(I know nothing about the law and could't even pretend to be one on TV!)

Me either but AFAIK the GOP could sue them in civil court if they wanted to. Civil cases usually don't get the press that criminal cases do but that wouldn't matter if the GOP could get some damages.

Maybe a "no contest" plea could open them up to federal civil rights prosecution?

Hopefully, the U. S. District Attorney is looking into the possibility of bringing charges.

The no contest pleas have not been formally made yet, but when they are, jurors will be left to deliberate the felony charge against Howell.

If the rest plead 'no contest' how can a jury possibly find Howell anything but guilty as hell?

The current one is a Pubbie so he might just do that.

Bribery and intimidation of one or more jurors are certainly possibilities.

The DA's office should immediately look into such questions.

In any case, regarding the guilty vermin who got off today -- Wouldn't a federal civil-rights prosecution be possible? Or does the plea deal prevent that? Any lawyers on this thread?

Howell is a black guy and they just found him "not guilty."

Which now means they are qualified for high office in the Democrat party.

Not true- they got only as far as the tires. Now, they have to get the rest of a vehicle upside down, under water, and have their dates trapped inside for a really successful political career!

That is a great point. How about "civil rights violations"? They took away the civil rights of voters. If these had been conservatives (I know that would never happen) and the buses had been parked in a public housing area, there would have been all sorts of civil rights and racist and bigot accusations---and, most assuredly, PUNISHMENT for the accused.

And why isn't election tampering a federal crime?!

This should be a federal civil rights violation.

Since when does a felony stop a democrat from voting?

"Howell is a black guy and they just found him "not guilty."

Ah, someone who actually pays attention to what they read. How novel.

So, any bets that Howell was the driver or the person back at DNC HQ on the phone with the guilty 4?
