I'll admit, he does have a gift for persuasion and has a good record as both a tough prosecutor and as NYC Mayor. But did he profess to be anti-gun, pro-gays and pro-abortion just because he had to in order to make it in NY?

I've heard him speak several times and he got standing ovations. Yes, I was among those standing and applauding, but the primary topic was his views on opposing terrorism. (I give him extra points for being a cute East Coast Italian, which I find hard to resist.)

I agree, if Bush gets another pick that leaves the WOT as THE issue. Rudy would be a shoe in then. Whether true or not he would be considered strong against the terrorists. He might not have won against her for the Senate race, but for President post 9/11 he would win easily.

My guess when I saw that thread a few days ago was that it was simply another leftist media story designed to assist Hitlery's campaign. As far as the left and their media accomplices are concerned, Hitlery is the only possible winner in 2008.

You've gotta love the fact that Clinton put an old woman in there while Bushes put the youngest, healthiest people they could find. I TOTALLY think that's why Bush was so concerned about Robert's excercise regimen.

He can use that as his excuse, that it was worth sacrificing his more moderate social views in order to be mayor and clean that city up (which he did very well). So if he does "rediscover" his Catholic Faith, he'll be a shoe in.

Bingo!!!ark_girl...this is precisely the most likely scenario....nobody EVER references the fact that Slick Willy could never get more than 43% of the vote....while McCain would do this just for the fun of seeing himself in the news every day for 9 months...

She does, unless she goes up against somebody like Arlen Specter. He's not likeable at all.

Pick a Republican who doesn't fit the likeability mode. Tom DeLay, even before the bogus charges against him, never was a candidate for Mr. Congeniality. He couldn't win the Presidency.

Frist could. He seems like a nice guy. Schwarzenegger could, but he's not eligible.

Jeb Bush would win in a landslide. He IS a nice guy.

Hillary is not a nice guy. She can only pretend to be one for a little while but once she gets off script she's whatever expletive you want to call her, and you'd be accurate.

I don't think she'd survive the rigors of a presidential campaign and end up looking like the nice guy.

And lie convincingly.

The South and non-coastal western states are not easily fooled.
The country's most prolific voting bloc, the Christian Right, will never vote for him. Gun owners will desert him.
If the G.O.P. nominee is Giulini then it will be the G.O.P., and no one else, responsible for allowing Hillary Rodham Clinton to capture the White House.

Hate to break it to you, but Guiliani would crush Hillary. But Hillary ain't gonna be there.

We should hope that Hillary wins the nomination, because she has no chance of winning the presidency. Bill and Hillary are better at mobilizing the Republican opposition than anyone, including Republicans.

My guess is that it will be George Allen vs. Mark Warner.

TOO nice. Spineless and he looks like he wears blush and lipstick. (IMO)

Uh, don't count Hitlery out. But I'm not afraid of her winning or not.

Her husband was elected ... twice. Of course we ran two very weak candidates against him but who in the Republican party stands out besides Dr. Condi Rice?

It may not be a bad thing if Hiltery manages to get elected, as long as Republicans maintain majorities in both houses.

More of the Republican agenda was accomplished when Bubba Clinton was president than it is now.

This would help with Giuliani, but what would we do about Rudy's gun-grabbing?

I think at this point, the GOP nomination is definitely George Allen's to lose.

The 'Rat nomination will be whoever seems the most likely to get the moderate vote, and I think Mark Warner probably ruined that by giving former felons in Virginia the right to vote. I think the most likely 'Rat nominee is either Bill Richardson, Joe Lieberman or Dick Gephardt.
