Liberals cheapen everything they touch.

It seems to me this will shock very few. I suppose a handful of people will be surprised these low class people did this but most realize this is just another incident that show cases how low these guys will go.

He had a very large funeral, with thousands marching behind the simple mule cart bearing the coffin:

I recall that Robert Kennedy attended, along with the other presidential candidates at the time - Humphrey, McCarthy, and Nixon.

I was listening to some call ins this morning that were really ticked off. They identified themselves as African American and felt that they were being used.

I think it depends on the forum and it depends on the individual. As I said yesterday, this was not lost on people who believe that kindness, compassion and respect matter.

Skin color has NOTHING to do with that. I blame hard core leftists. Period.

Killin' them with kindness. I wonder if it ever makes them doubt themselves. Not publicly, but deep down.

I know if I trashed someone to their face and they were kind to me I couldn't take it.

Of course, I couldn't trash someone to their face to begin with. And usually not behind their back either.

She didn't say much of anything. I generally take crap from her when we argue because of that commandment, 'honor thy father and mother.' But this time she knew I wasn't going to put up with it and she kept her mouth mostly shut. But then again, I don't think she really agreed with Sheehan anyway, for the most part.

I think this needs to be added to the discussion.

Telegram to President Eisenhower, 1957.

Little Rock Ark Sep 30

The President

The White House

We the parents of nine Negro children enrolled at Little Rock Central High School want you to know that your action in safe guarding their rights have strengthened our faith in democracy.

Now as never before we have an abiding felling of belonging and purposefulness.

We believe that freedom and equality with which all men are endowed at birth can be maintained only through freedom and equality of opportunity for self development growth and purposeful citizenship.

We believe that the degree to which people everywhere realize and accept this concept will determine in a large measure Americas true growth and true greatness.

You have demonstrated admirably to us the nation and the world how profoundly you believe in this concept

For this we are deeply grateful and respectfully extend to you our heartfelt and lasting thanks

May the Almighty and all Wise Father of us all bless guide and keep you always. /s?

"I am so proud of President Bush and Laura, they are so good and strong and gracious, we are truly blessed."

Southern Grace under fire.

Some bloggers say the funeral was scripted that way to attack Bush. Coretta Scott King wanted it that way.
Any proof of this or did they decide that after Mrs. King passed away?

Personally, I think I would act dignified and leave the back stabbing after the memorial service. You only have to hold your tonque for one hour or so. Don't the lefties show any self control?

Right. WE WERE SO DAMN CLOSE! But nooooo. And the poor folks got sold out. Minority progress really started to take hold during the Nixon administration. No surprise that things had to change.

If Republicans were as disgraceful as Democrats:

Bush: "Corretta Scott King worked her whole life to defeat racial discrimination written into law by the Democratic Party. Her tireless struggle to overcome the Democrat Jim Crow Laws will forever be remembered."

"But what will we will all remember most is her endless perseverence. When Democrats bombed her home in Alabama, she persevered. When KKK members like Democratic Senator Robert Byrd marched in support of segregation and filibustered the Civil Rights Act, she persevered. When John and Robert Kennedy tapped her phoneline to spy on her husband, she persevered. When Jimmy Carter ran for Governor on a segregationist platform, she persevered."

"Any proof of this or did they decide that after Mrs. King passed away?"

Neil Cavuto nailed it in his "Common Sense" segment yesterday:

"Sadly, I've been to far too many funerals in my life. I've given far too many eulogies in my life too. So I think I'm somewhat qualified to remind folks about what funerals are all about.

They're not about the people looking at the box, but the person in that box.

They're about the voice now silent, not the voices still loud.

It's not about settling scores, but settling on a life's meaning.

Not yours, but theirs.

Not your speeches, their memory.

Not your digs, their depth.

The dead cannot speak for themselves. So tread carefully when thinking you can.

You do the dead honor, but acting honorably, not selfishly.

Don't assume you speak for their views, when you prattle on about yours.

Funerals aren't about prattling. They're about soul-searching.

All I know is that when you walk into a church or a synagogue, you aren't a Democrat or a Republican, a conservative or a liberal. You're a human being, there to remember another human being.

This is their moment, not yours. Their life, not yours. And their message, not yours.

So save the stump speeches for the rabid fans who might care. Not the dead, who clearly do not.

I think the one thing worse than speaking ill of the dead, is assuming you're speaking for them at all."
