Re: lots and lots of people are telling me they do not intend to vote in the 2006 election.

Democrats are the party of Apathy (and isolationist caputulation).

The more apathy they attract, the more voter apathy there will be on election day.

Think I'm wrong?

I have 3 numbers that prove it.

2000, 2002, and 2004.

In 2004, 62,041,268 Bush fans (more votes than any other president in American history) voted.

Not trashed the president on DU, not forwarded a chain letter, not organised a meet-up, not photoshopping a pic, not attending free concerts, not doing all of the other BS things they do to call themselves 'involved', but actually voting.

The democrats continued reliance on a "angry young men" as a reliable demographic to turn out and vote, will lead them to yet another defeat, and THANK GOD!

When I give a response, do not take it personally.

I am trying to reason out my beliefs.

'you' and 'those' do not refer to you or those posting here. They refer to the nitwits out there.

NEVER post something like that here on FR...

It will be MAIN even on DUmmieland...and we don't want to give them "bulletin board" material, do we??

Besides...I even heard Rush tell a caller the other day, who asked him what he would do if Hillary DID get elected POTUS, and he just said..."we will deal with it, we will have to"....

And so it goes....but, if we give bulletin board material to the "enemy" we don't help out own cause.

Republicans are responsible for Ross Perot. He came about to contest the Republican position, spoke directly to the people and proved not to have the stomache for the types of nonsense politics delivers in attempt to keep real people out.

Whether you fully agree with Perot or not doesn't remove from republicans the responsibility for it's earned loss of public confidence. The democrat party is a train wreck heading into obscurity. No two ways about it. If the republican party can't win against that at this point, it is in no way blameable on anyone but the republican party.

Bravo sir!

For some reason, immigration isn't an issue here, although I'm pretty sure the horse industry, which is absolutely king in our town, uses immigrant labor. So does the lawn maintenance industry and lots of retirees don't do their own yards, so that is a big employer in our area as well.

I used to argue with people on this site about immigration, but since the Minute Men showed that it can be controlled, I've stopped. We've all also seen too many articles about extreme violence and crime associated with immigrants (illegal) and also the sharp increase in state and federally mandated social program funding going to this group of people.

I don't think any of us really want a round up like the Nazi's did, but what's coming in could be stopped in a more effective way and that would quell a lot of the dissatisfaction we're hearing/seeing on FR in various regions of the country.

I'm almost afraid to comment on this thread or talk like this openly, because I'm sure to get slammed as going negative, etc., but if we aren't going to talk truth to power (Don't I sound like Kerry? Thought I'd throw that in there for those who are going to be calling me names soon! LOL), but if we aren't allowed to talk freely on here about how to counter potential problems in the upcoming election, then all we're really doing here is chatting with good friends and having fun, but we aren't ultimately working to change anything.

"Reps should quit fussing about RINOs and quit trying to chase out us moderates."

Freerepublic isn't a "moderate" republican forum, it is a Conservative forum. At least it was. Maybe Jim Robinson can answer that question for sure.

I live in SC, and illegal immigration is a pretty big issue here, though not as big as it is with our neighbor to the north.

I don't care if Republicans are re-elected or not. We get big-spending internationalists in Washington no matter which party wins. The lesser of two evils is still an evil.

Wake me up when the GOP becomes a conservative party again.

the rationale for the election of a conservative Republican . . .

"Conservative" republican?

What in the hell is this writer referring to? What "conservative" republican?

The only prominent conservative republican I can recall was Reagan. We have "L" liberals and "R" liberals, but a "conservative republican" is as rare as a Florida panther.

. . .

Ooops. I take that back. There are about 30 Florida panthers left in the Everglades. There are NOT 30 "conservative" republicans. A restatement is needed:

We have "L" liberals and "R" liberals, but a "conservative republican" is MORE rare than a Florida panther.

But the crux of the matter is picture America under the Democrats and if you can stay at home you are not worthy to be an American.

Well said. Politicians mostly are reprehensible, but it is no longer only about liberal/conservative or donk/pubbie. It is about America. We stand a better chance of keeping it longer and more intact w/the GOP than with the horror that the donks have become.

None of the young adults who make up the polling universe and the left wing voters even remember the real America or any America without the constant filter of the uberleft. Those of us who want it back have to strategically vote to make sure we keep as much of it as is possible for as long as is possible.

Yeah! Let's stay home and let Congress be taken over by the Lunatic Left. That'll teach you! (I don't know what it will teach you, but it will teach you something!)

This sort of rhetoric is what the Republican Party needs in an election year to goad lackadaisical voters to get to the polls on election day. Rest assured the Democrats are already in a foaming frenzy to get to the polls since they lack a majority in any of the branches of government. Their anger is clearly demonstrated in their inability to formulate solutions to the problems they incessantly rant about and criticize.

I will vote for Speedy Gonzales if he is an illegal alien but running on the Republican ticket. It's not that I am so much a Republican as I am an anti-Democrat. I do not want a Democrat as a Commander in Chief in a time of war. To not vote at all, or to vote for a third party, simply because you want a personal Santa Claus for a President is principled but very foolish.

its going to be close, and we need some positive stories from our side - and I am fearful that the white house communications operation does not know how to deliver.

we need lots of events with the president greeting returning US troops. we need to get the story out there that iraq has turned the corner, and that some permanent troop reductions are taking place, and these events where the president is on the tarmac greeting and saluting our returning soldiers should be the cornerstone of that media campaign.

I won't vote for any Dem out there now either. I just think it would be wise for the GOP leadership to start paying closer attention to certain issues, and actually listen to what the people are saying.

And bedwetting conservatives who fail to use their votes as leverage out of fear of the mean old Democrats get this:

if we lose the house and/or senate in 2006, and polls show that McCain or Rudy are the only two candidates that can win the presidency - we support them. because otherwise, control of the country will have been returned to the Dems and to President Hillary Clinton in 2008.
