I think we can all agree on this one, that it should be vetoed.

Yet MORE reason why all funding of K-12 should be from the local school district.

Here, here!

I have to chuckle however. This poor group at SaveCalifornia appears to be pinning their hopes on the guy that did an end run around our constitution and conferred the full legal privileges of marriage upon homosexual partners.

Wouldn't hold my breath appealing to our resident, European liberal holding court in a luxury suite overlooking the capitol building.

"conferred the full legal privileges of marriage upon homosexual partners."

===

YOU KNOW THIS IS NOT TRUE. Please stop making misleading statements.

Schwarzenegger vetoes gay marriage bill as promised

Indeed. Thank you for posting this, churchillbuff.

FWIW, even tho this bill pertains to public schools, a private school principal here in San Diego is in the news this week for his "cool" response regarding the young actress in Brokeback Mountain, who attented their school.

To his credit, he humbly and unapologetically is not impressed with her Oscar nomination and is not going to have her speak at the school.

If only public schools would and could display such moral courage.

You implied ...

Those pesky little facts.

Ruins a good argument based on emotion every time.

No matter how dark the shade of red applied to the pig's lips, the odor and manner are always a dead give away.

Have you seen AB606, where they will actually have to teach transgender stuff in school now. I'll bet Arnold signs it. And FO, vetoing one bill does not negate all the ones he has signed. You can stop trying to make that purse any time now, it will always be a sows ear.

Oops, I was on that thread, didn't know that. That's what I get for having more than one window open at a time.

There is only one thing certain.

Whatever Wilson's celebrity spokesman does, it will be driven 100%, by the concern for political advantage. There will be NO consideration given to principle or tradition.

That's been Wilson's trademark for 30 years. Wilson was the champion of affirmative action and subsidized housing when they were popular fads but quickly turned against both when the political pendulum swung. The gang's official rational for vetoing the homosexual marriage bill and motor vehicle operating privileges for illegal aliens are classic examples of Wilson's agenda.

Never rely on principle. Always gage the political wind and tailor your actions and your excuses to appeal to the mob while not directly insulting your base. Classic Wilson. He could have run in either party successfully.

Seemed a bit reactionary so I went and looked at the bill. They're freaking out over the possible with holding of funding which is just one remedy.

The bill requires a safe environment at school in reaction to costly lawsuits some talked about in the Senate Analysis.

I don't believe it's "promoting an agenda" to enact policies to educate and protect students from harassment and violence based on real or perceived sexual orientation or gender.

Bullies don't have a right to their prey.

The preyed upon most certainly have a right and expectation of safety in an educational environment. One change is the state will be picking up the costs for mandated programs.

Of course the legal battle line will be drawn between a witnessing evangelical and someone who feels harassed by those efforts.

I hope he signs this. It’s going to take an outrage like this to get rid of socialized schooling. As long as the schools are just good enough that people delude themselves into thinking their socialist school is good enough for their kid, people will continue to feed at the government trough and accept their lifestyle being subsidized by forcibly taking income from others.

Socialized schooling is no more acceptable than socialized medicine.

A point ..

But the counterpoint is that openly discussing social and/or biological deviancy offers the possibility that it will be more publicly tolerated. Toleration of deviancy has never been the hallmark of a long surviving social system.

You don't have kids in school do you? Or if you do they are girls. You have never dealt with the already existing policies. I can tell. If you had you would not be taking this stance believe me.
