He threatened to veto the Transportation Spending Bill "if it comes to my desk a dollar over $255 Billion".I agree he should veto this crap... but congress needs to do their part.

"- nobody seems to know what it means to be "republican" anymore.
If you do, please let me know."
I could go on with another laundry list... but I'll cut to the chase!
Take a long look at (and study the voting records of) ted kennedy, sheila jackson lee, maxine waters, charles rangle, harry reid, hillary clinton, henry waxman, john kerry, howard dean, nancy pelosi, chuck schumer, weasly clark, and add in barbara streisand, george clooney, tim robbins, susan sarandon, michael moore, chris matthews, dan rather, mary mapes, louis farakan, jesse jackson, and the reverand al...
Republicans are just the opposite of these... at least so far to the right of these to appear Conservative, even if they don't prove to be Conservative according to your measuring criteria.

Except when it comes to citizens spending for advertising against incumbents in elections, that must be forbidden, constitution be damned.

McCain-Feingold -- a total attack upon, and suppression of, the First Amendment. (I assume that was the essence of your comment) - I trusted him deeply not to sign this egregious anti-Constitutional crap legislation -- and he did.
To: Almondjoy
I hate to break it to you, but Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller are the ONLY two democrats alive today worth any praise! dims are evil, plain and simple. They are the party of death of the unborn, death of freedom, and death of our Nation.
Save this philosophy for someone else... perhaps the DU?

yeah, I know. It is a huge disappointment that GWB kept his 2000 campaign promisesSo, paid poster, am I to assume that you are in favor of the out-of-control spending Bush endorses by refusing to veto?

There are a handful of subversives on FR,...You share the same opinion as I do on that matter.
A standing ovation is most deserved even if I was the only one to applaud...

Is that the same Joe Lieberman who was excommunicated because of his supporting killing babies?

If you think that what we call the HOUSE and SENATE are anything but being ABOUT POLITICS, please show me an instance where they have done ANYTHING that wasn't about "their" politics?
Our government today does NOT function as it was designed. Congress is responsible entirely.

2. The tax cuts -- pushed by the President over the linguini-spined fears of many GOP congress-critters -- have resulted in *much* larger tax revenues being collected in 2005 than before the cuts, adjusted for inflation.Total federal receipts in constant FY2000 dollars
2001 1946.1
2002 1777.8
2003 1667.0
2004 1712.5
2005 1898.3
2006 1951.1 (projected)

And they cannot win by running away from Bush. Perhaps they believe they can by at least appearing to be expelling any big government socialist political opportunist types from their party.
