how can you own the rights to the likeness of a dead famous public person? EPE has been successful at controlling anything related to Elvis including his likeness. You will wind up in court if you try to circumvent them.

So are you going to tell us the story, or are we going to be forced to google? He died in 1971, only 36 years old. Bleeding ulcer, as I recall (or maybe cirrhosis of the liver?). He was broke down and out, not sure how he lost his money, fast women, slow horses, probably.
In 1970 he was playing at bars in the San Fernando Valley, I remember one of my brother's and his friends drove from Long beach to San Fernando just to see him (they would not take me, I was too young). When they came back they said it was a great show, but that he looked real bad and the place he was playing at was a dumpy bar. He died about six months after that.
