I mean really reducing the size and scope of government. The size of government hasn't seen any reduction, at all, since 1924. The American people don't want small government. If they did, they'd vote for it.

All I have ever said is I will not vote for McCain! Well... I have said GWB could do a better job on Borders, and spending. Also, that given the same candidates, I would vote for him again.
I have also said the time to get rid of RINO's is in the primaries. In the general election even if it is neccessary to hold your nose, above all!!! vote!!!

speaks out against Illegal immigration They are NOT immigrants, illegal or otherwise; they are illegal aliens.
Immigration is a legal process by which we allow foreigners to (a) establish legal residency, and (b) apply towards eventual citizenship.
Illegal aliens are those that either (a) entered the country unlawfully, or (b) overstayed their visa.

Bush has been abysmal in his lack of leadership for the party. Sorry, but I just can't support him anymore.
He's no Teddy Roosevelt and certainly no Ronald Reagan. If he's not careful, he very likely could turn out to be what Dick Morris warned of, the Republican's Jimmy Carter.
Bush needs to straighten up and stop woosing out to the Demoncrats.

We hear this swill every two years from the unappeaseables. Put in Democrats, teach the Republicans a lesson. Well, guess what buster? You under-the-bridge trolls voted for that nutcase Perot, and we got Clinton for eight years. And you jerks acted like you had nothing to do with it. If the GOP loses the House and/or Senate this year after you sit on your ass on election day, it's your fault. If you want hard-right, go vote for the Constipation Party, where you can suck your thumb, pout, and never win an election while making the rest of the world miserable.MEGA DITTO!!! If I could put your entire comment in my tagline, I would!

Sink... Tancredo, JD Hayworth and Sessions are Republicans. They have a clear message when it comes to the Illegal immigration invasion, and can satisfy the GOP and (gasp) Rats..
Don't you think it would serve our Party well to get behind one of these candidates?

There is a big difference between thinking and throwing a temper tantrum. Exactly, and if I interpret your meaning correctly I believe most of the dissent here is more talk than action, hopefully.

I love the part about leftists (presumbably posters such as myself) spreading urban legends about illegal aliens.
I guess this would include such elements as how private enterprises (businesses) are shifting P&L subsidies to public sector (government) liabilities in the form of health, education & welfare.
To support these contentions, I would also have to masquerade as a bean counter that has had (a) a technical accounting reference book published, and (b) is involved in a popular financial information & disclosure web site.

Why are you taking this so personally? If you notice the original publication date on the link was mid 2004 (the blog post is a re-post of an older article.)

I am losing patience with the petulant childlike nonsense of persons insisting that because Bush is not running there no need to worry about his poll numbers. Leadership matters, although I may quibble with some of his policy choices I do like the man. If someone were to ask me for a good model of what it means to be American I would be very happy to cite George and Laura Bush as outstanding citizens.
But, I think Bush has been badly advised and let down by a party that has tried to be all things to anyone who claimed themselves to be conservative. It is time to go back to our fundamental definitions. It is time to return core values in respect of federalism, trade and tax policy and defense. Conservatives believe in the right of the individual as opposed to a liberal view that asserts a collective right of freedom. It drives me nuts to see so called social and religious conservatives trying to assert a collective right under the guise of conservatism.

If the Republicans run McCain, I'm going to write in Tancredo's name. I'll still be voting Republican.

We are not leaving Bush. Bush left us on the immigration issue.I call BS on that. There was no discussion of the immigration issue in the 2000 OR 2004 Campaign. This issue has been trotted out recently and turned into a single-issue litmus test for some people. If it was that big a deal, why wasn't it discussed in the campaign?
You are holding him accountable for a campaign promise he never made. That's unfair. I expect unfair treatment from the 'Rats -- unfair treatment from so-called Conservatives is intolerable. You'll get exactly what you deserve -- unfortunately we'll all lose.

Why are you taking this so personally? Au contraire - I don't take it personally. As I've indicated to others, I'm primarily a punter. My motivation is financial - the only thing that ever compels people to act (including politicians) is fear & greed. Find the right financial lever, and we can solve the illegal alien problem.
I've discussed this with Liz, and I do believe I've found the key. If successful, you'll start hearing about it, and thousands of businesses will start sitting up and taking notice.

All I have ever said is I will not vote for McCain! I agree and also agree with everything else you said, that just shows good judgment.
Some here think the Repub party will someday be completely staunch Conservative. I don't think it will happen even though I'd like to see it. I don't consider letting Dems take control of Congress as a good option as a means of trying to get there though.
