Perhaps Kennedy popped a few pills and slugged a few whiskeys, then decided to round off his evening with a nice leisurely drive through Washington D.C.

But only with a hospital blood test, right? And he deftly avoided that, bigtime.
I heard an AP news report that Capitol Hill Police are not authorized to give field sobriety tests, nor take the suspect to a hospital for blood tests. Any truth to that?

Different laws for *them* and us peons.

Kennedys just can't tell the truth
Let us be a little more precise here.
Their version of Catholicism is that you tell the truth at confession to your priest--you save the lying for the police, the media, and anyone in the public stupid enough to want to be anywhere near you.

As I read the article it seems to me that we are missing the point.
Cynthia McKinney would have been given a breath test because the cops wouldn't have recognized her. :-)

You know, I wonder if it's just a coincidence that the following is the featured quote today on my "365 Stupidest Things Ever Said" desk calendar:
"We need to hire people who speak Hispanish because Hispanish is an important language."--Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, when running for governor. (Pat's cousin)

You Said "Who wrote the police report, I wonder? "
Probably the same guy that wrote the Memo concerning President Bush's ANG records.

Kennedys just can't tell the truth.THAT'S IT!!! His fanny should be fired just for this INABILITY to tell the truth.
As for the drunkeness: He's a kennedy. Are we to believe that his constituants didn't KNOW about his drinking? snicker...He was simply "hired" for his name. PERIOD

The poor, innocent little fellow works frantically to spin himself into "Victim-hood."
I guess he's learned a lot from his drunken, murdering sperm donor.

``I never asked for any preferential treatment''--Rep. Patrick Kennedy He knows that he shouldn't HAVE to ask! He's a kennedy, for Heaven's sake! It's his due.

Phenergan = promethazine = antihistamine
Broader use, including anti-nausea as you say and sedation, than more targeted antihistamines such as the newer loratadine (Claritin), specifically engineered to not cause drowsiness or other side effects.

WASHINGTON -U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy insisted yesterday that he had consumed no alcohol before he slammed his Mustang convertible into a concrete barrier near his office, but a hostess at a popular Capitol Hill watering hole told the Herald she saw him drinking in the hours before the crash. And the cop believed him. Where is his sobriety test??? Why didn't the cop give him one?
To: aculeus
I simply do not remember getting out of bed, being pulled over by the police, or being cited for three driving infractions. Thats not how I want to live my life, and thats not how I want to represent the people of Rhode Island. If he was smart, he would have said "TWO driving infractions", to "prove" he didn't remember correctly the events of the previous night...

Right. Especially since the Kennedys are the kind of people who can be "sobriety tested" from about ten yards away.

I would not have the opportunity to lie. If this had been me, I would have been given a field sobriety test and if impaired, I would have been arrested. It must be nice to be a Kennedy and never have to worry about the whole law thing cramping your partying lifestyle.
To: mother22wife21
Phenergan? For allergies? I always took it for nausea
Well more accurately for allergic reactions. And yes it does help with nausea too. The point was it can make you sleepy so admitting he took that was not really helping himself.
