How did this man ever become Congressman from a very conservative state with a dismal record like that?

Chris Cannon is a corporatist conservative, that's how.

And he did oust a Democrat from Congress in 1996, which was a good developement.

He lied about it. Just like he's lying now when he says he's against amnesty, when in fact he's never encountered amnesty legislation that he doesn't get all weak in the knees over. His voting record is what is doing the most damage to him this time around thanks to the efforts of Team America PAC who has done everything they can to expose his constituents to it.

I don't think you quite get it. I'm not saying gambling is a horrible sin, but among Mormons it's not something that recommends you. This is a Mormon district he's running in. Right or wrong, the gambling issue isn't going to play well there.

And I wouldn't be quite so cavalier about comparing gambling to marital intimacy or somehow make it out to be so harmless. Marital intimacy draws husband and wife together as a couple and produces families. Gambling on the other hand has ended more than a few marriages and broken up more than a few homes, destroying families and leaving its addicts in financial ruin and even without a home. Ridiculous comparison if you take the time to think about it.

Whatever it is, Jacobs is the hypocritical one in the equation, not Cannon. I may not like if Cannon has taken money from illegal aliens, there is no evidence he has, but at least it's consistent with his beliefs unlike Jacobs. Gotta work on your parallelisms and moral equivalencies there. That one was lame.

Illegal immigration should be the litmus test in this election. Cannon is allied with forces such as MEChA and La Raza who want unrestricted illegal immigration. He wants the taxpayers of Utah to pay for illegal immigrants who use social services(such as schooling and medical care) which is exclusively reserved for the residents of Utah because they pay taxes. He supports CIRA and its potential of having 100 million immigrants entering this country. I hope that the people of his dictrict vote him out of office because of his support of illegal immigrants.

I get that Jacob may have flaws, we all do, but there is one overarching issue in this campaign, and that's immigration. Cannon is dead wrong and taking a highly dangerous position, and we cannot afford to have any of our people taking such a stance. Jacob says he'll vote the right way, and I'll take him at his word. If he is lying to us and intends to vote the wrong way, we'll take care of him in 2008. That's how our elections work.

Of couse if Jacob loses, we'll see a tancredo/bay buchanan press release blaming it on satan, ala John Jacob.

Nah, they'll blame Jacob's Satan comments, a subtle but worthwhile difference.

There's no way to respond to your post because it had no substance.

Neener neener back in your face, is not an argument.

It doesn't really matter. You think free trade agreements abolish American sovereignty. You'd prefer to cut all traffic at the border, period.

No point in rehashing that argument.

I am not speaking about the immigration issue but rather about his electability in light of recent mistakes. I didn't speak to the immigration issue, only to the political reality of one being caught in hypocrisy and in making some bizarre comments and what that can do to one's political chances.

Any one see any connection with the recently passed Communications Opportunity, Promotion and Enhancement Act.

Anthony Riddle wrote "The bill would effectively end what is known as "net neutrality" which is the concept that that everyone, everywhere, should have free, universal and non-discriminatory access to the Internet.

The bill would also cut back the obligation of cable TV companies to devote channels to public access and fund the facilities to run them. And the COPE bill would replace local cable franchises with national franchises."

"Sovereignty!"

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

We launched a media campaign against Cannon that forced him to lie about his record, run ads against us, spend over a hundred thousand dollars of his own money, beg his corporate buddies for another couple hundred thousand, and use up a precious White House IOU by having the President hawk for him on a radio ad.

Tom Tancredo stabbing another conservative in the back. He is a snake.
