There are a bunch of socialist Democratic nut cases from San Francisco and Los Angeles who passing all of these weird laws in Sacramento. The only person who stopping these proposed legislation is Arnold. If Angelides becomes governor, he will sign all these weird legislation into law, including drivers licenses for illegal aliens. Essentially, Angelides will be a rubber stamp for the State Legislature.

Thanks, I appreciate it. ALthough I hate to read this kind of stuff right before (or during, which is what I usually do) a meal... Takes away the appetite, if you know what I mean.

I apologize .. I did try .. I found .. I saw this as an opportunity .. I don't think .. I'm sure ..

There is no need to explain, expand or justify. None more than I, realize and appreciate your contributions and devotion to the California Topic.

My concern remains valid and has been expressed rather bluntly, which is my style. The advice was free, as in beer. You may take it for what it's worth.

I have no doubt your intentions were good, but the stretch was just way too big to see ANY comparison or parallel whatsover, potentially, or otherwise. Sorry about jumping down your throat about it, but it just struck me dead wrong. I'm such a big admirerer of ccg's efforts to bring clarity to all the efforts in the opposite direction here of late that I just couldn't restrain myself.

Hope your having a delightful holiday weekend in the raisin capitol of planet earth.

Not to fret. This is politics, not personal.

Habits are easy to form and hard to brake. The original criticism was intended to alert the author in a light hearted manner. I was disappointed that hard-to-find material, which took hours to collect and organize, was mitigated by the posting style. From my perspective, the patient had suddenly and mysteriously developed a raging case of FOitis

By the 7th reply, the pattern was familiar, except it involved the wrong account. The value of the posting had been lost because of an overload of zeal delivered from all directions.

I suddenly felt like a pedestrian on Sunday morning, cautiously venturing into the new church in town to check out the preacher, only to find myself surrounded in the foyer by half a dozen elders, simultaneously presenting their perspective on the wisdom of the gospels. The only action the multiple presentations evoked was to flee the foyer. Phoning my assemblyman could wait until I was safely back on the sidewalk.

With all the problems California has, I'm amazed gays take up so much of the Legislature's time. It would be one thing if there was rampant homophobia and extreme discrimination against gays in California. The only problem is, it doesn't exist. But that doesn't seem to stop our State Legislature from continuing to be obssessed with efforts to advance that "other lifestyle."

The liberal view of tolerance is someone must be forced to openly acknowledge the legitimacy of homosexual values. Merely allowing others to believe as they want is insufficient. Apparently the Left has not been able to get people to agree with them homosexuality is 100% normal so they want the law changed to coerce people to agree with that position. That's what's in that bill. Yeah, if this is tolerance, I'd hate to see what real coercion looks like.

Exactly. The law being a teacher, the intent behind the bill is to marginalize those believe in traditional values as bigots and rednecks. That would be followed up with criminal and civil penalties to punish those who refuse to submit to Big Brother's definition of homosexuality. Shades of 1984! I'm just waiting for the telescreens to make sure every one knows Big Brother Is Watching You.

But of course you know the precedent for this coercion through legislation and litigation is what the non-smokers have done to an element of society that has been doing something so legal is was taught to us by the SACRED INDIGINOUS PEOPLES!!!

Just think! When those "Indians" (who weren't in India at all) taught those Columbian sailor boys how to SMOKE TOBACCO, the average life expectance of white european males was less than age 45!!! Now, TODAY, the average smoker lives to a ripe old average life expectancy of over 72!!!

Yet we have this anti-smoking legislation and litigation on a perpetual basis. The activists, just like the EnvironMental activists can and will NEVER get enough of it!!! Ironically, neither group actually has any interest whatsoever in "The Natural Process!"

Watched bit and pieces of an apparently interesting program last evening presented by the MSM.

The focus was on a nation divided and the effects of local emigration on those schisms. The thesis offered that, when among like minded fellows, viewpoints become more extreme.

The California legislature is an excellent example. Ordinary folk, when sent to Sacrament, become a coalition of nuts, veering to the extreme, because of an isolated camaraderie of brethren.

A minority among the elected few, who share a traditional, grounded, sense of right, wrong and consequences, and who have managed to keep their wits about them, are, none the less, consumed with the fear political consequences, should they speak out against the rampant outrages.

The resulting paradox, public deviance and the closeted teaching of morality will be a study in irony.

Was that the program I caught the very tail end of being hosted by Boy George Steponallofus??? If it is, and if you are supporting the premise he was promulgating, I cannot fully agree and go there with you.

I thought we had some pretty "like minded fellows" on this site until the historic CA Recall effort and election was hijacked by the big celebrity fat-head. Since then, this site has been a site for sore eyes!!! (Especially amongst CA FReepers)

Doesn't that work against what you sounded like you were agreeing with from the MSM program you were referring to? Or am I misunderstanding you again???

Wasn't necessarily agreeing with the theme presented - US communities are becoming increasingly, more politically homogeneous and increasingly, more widely separated in their corporate political viewpoints.

I do, however, support their contention that a collection of same will seldom promote change and is very likely to continue developing rigid structures that are less likely to tolerate change.

I'm glad that partisan moderates/liberals, DL/FO come to mind most immediately, have established accounts on FR. They liven up the place. The influx of moderates on the News Topic occurred during the 2000 election cycle but folks either migrated or sent their progeny to the California Topic in 2003 with the news that a broad spectrum of California's electorate really wanted to get rid of a Democrat governor. They will fade back into the woodwork when the CAGOP returns to its traditions and the European liberal is out of office. They'll be back to cheering for conservatives.
